This month on Gettys On The Road:

📍 Fort Worth, Texas

Anne, our Principal of Procurement, joined more than 130 women in hospitality at the Stay Retreat, connecting with hospitality leaders from across the industry. She returned with fresh perspectives, meaningful new relationships, and renewed determination to continue supporting, mentoring, and building others up around her, inspired by Kirstina O’Neill’s message on resilience and reinvention.

📍 Indianapolis, Indiana + Nashville, Tennessee

Roger, our Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, checked in on construction progress at two very different projects: a historic building being given new life as a Motto by Hilton in Indianapolis, and The Bend in Nashville, a new mixed-use development steadily taking shape.

📍 Los Gatos, California + San Jose, California

Angelica and Jess from our Branding Studio were on the ground in Los Gatos and San Jose, kicking off two hotel repositioning projects. Through site exploration, market research, and competitive analysis, they began uncovering the insights that will inform each property’s future brand story.

From California sun to construction zones to a little unexpected square dancing along the way, this month’s travels are a reminder that design begins long before opening day.

What does Ta**us look like in design?

Comfort, elevated.
Luxury, slowed down.

Natural palettes layered with texture.
Materials that age beautifully.
Greenery that brings life into every corner.

And spaces to gather over food, because for Ta**us, dining isn’t an amenity, it’s essential to the experience.

It’s a point of view rooted in quality—of materials, of atmosphere, of time well spent.

♉ Ta**us, interpreted by our team.

This month’s Gettys On The Road follows our Prototypical Design team across four site visits, each a different starting point for what comes next.

In Fair Oaks, Indiana, we documented existing conditions and measured for what will become a more tailored guest experience, including custom silo suites and a farm-inspired setting that connects to dining and events.

In Arnold, Missouri, the work begins from the inside out: a structure fully demo’d to the studs, revealing the framework for transformation.

In Kohler, Wisconsin, we stepped into process and legacy—touring Kohler Co.’s factories, the design center, and archives to understand how products are made, specified, and experienced.

In Sacramento, California, a former Vagabond Inn is being repositioned into a City Express, a study in adaptation, scale, and brand application.

Sustainability isn’t a feature, it’s built into the work.

At Hotel Verdant, it shows up in the decisions: how the building is reused, how materials are sourced, and how performance is measured.

Three ways it comes to life.

Branding a development is about more than identity—it’s about strategy.

At The Bend at Capitol District, our Branding Studio developed a system to support a multi-brand environment—bringing clarity and distinction across Moxy, TownePlace Suites, Apartments by Marriott, and Residences within a single destination.

The concept draws from Nashville itself, a city shaped by converging forces: the bend of the Cumberland River, the intersection of highways, and the cultural currents that continue to define its energy. These ideas of movement, convergence, and exchange became the foundation for the brand.

That thinking translates into a system that organizes how people move, connect, and experience the site, turning a complex development into something intuitive, legible, and dynamic.

From naming through visual identity, the brand is designed as a flexible framework, built to scale, adapt, and evolve alongside the project.

We asked our Aries team members to translate their sign into design and a clear point of view emerged.

No overhead lighting. Just a layered, warm glow from lamps, sconces, and candlelight.
Color-drenched walls with limewash, plaster, or tonal finishes with depth.
Rich, tactile materials like velvet, stone with movement, aged metals, natural wood.

Sculptural objects. A few unexpected moments. Nothing overdone.

Confident. Intentional. A little impulsive.

Less about being loud—more about presence. A quiet kind of fire.

♈️ Aries, interpreted by our team. Stay tuned for Ta**us.

At The Gettys Group, branding begins with strategic placemaking.

For The Midland Hotel, our Branding Studio resurrected the property’s original name and reinterpreted its social-club legacy, transforming Karl M. Vitzthum’s 1929 Midland Club into a modern gathering point in the Chicago Loop.

A custom-drawn, all-caps serif wordmark establishes gravitas, while the M and H monogram forms architectural arches inspired by the building itself. Those arches extend beyond the mark, becoming a distinct framing device across photography and brand expression.

Maroon nods to Chicago’s drawbridges, while light blue reflects the city’s iconic flag, creating a palette that feels sophisticated, grounded, and undeniably local.

Custom illustrations inspired by the city and the building are featured on rotating in-room postcards. These small gestures reflect Midwestern friendliness and add warmth to the guest experience.

The result is a brand that balances Beaux-Arts elegance with contemporary energy. A place where “Chicago’s Friendliest Hotel” lives on in spirit.
