On Father’s Day, a family found themselves in trouble on Lake Michigan when their jet ski capsized. Fortunately, Kevin Foote, Vice Chairman of the Race to Mackinac and other Chicago Yacht Club members were nearby and helped rescue the boaters in distress.

This incident was a reminder of the vigilance and preparedness that are central to safe boating. Safety has always been a cornerstone of the Mac Race and this moment reflects the kind of seamanship the Race values both on and off the course.

We’re grateful everyone is safe—and proud to see members of the community ready to respond when it matters most.
