Ever wonder how a NonCombustibles home actually gets from plans to property?

It starts with steel.

From there, the framing is produced for the project, the wall sections are assembled in our Chico shop, windows and other components can be incorporated, and the finished panels are organized and shipped to the building site.

Then your local contractor puts it all together.

More work done before it reaches the jobsite. Less fabrication left to figure out in the field.

And at the end of the process?

A real home — designed for the property, built around noncombustible steel, and manufactured right here in Northern California.

Scroll through the photos and you can see the process from steel to finished structure.

Have property and something you want to build? That’s where the conversation starts.

No single product makes a home fireproof.

Real wildfire-resistant design means thinking about the whole house:

• Structural framing
• Roofing
• Siding and exterior finishes
• Vents and ember intrusion
• Eaves and soffits
• Windows
• Decks and attached structures
• And even the first five feet around the home

You can choose a great siding material and still leave other vulnerable places for wind-driven embers to find.

At Noncombustibles, steel framing is an important part of what we do — but it’s only one part of the bigger conversation.

The goal is to design the entire home for the environment it’s going to live in.

Building in wildfire country? It’s worth having that conversation before the plans are finished. 👇

Sunday morning Zone Zero chat. ☕️

Especially if you are in California, you may have been hearing the term “Zone 0” lately. So what is it?

Zone 0 is the first five feet around your home — the area wildfire experts consider especially important because wind-blown embers can collect against walls, beneath eaves, around decks and near other vulnerable parts of a structure.

California has now approved new Zone 0 standards for homes in certain wildfire-hazard areas. The basic idea is simple:

Don’t give an ember an easy place to start a fire right next to the house.

That means thinking differently about landscaping and materials immediately around the structure — noncombustible surfaces, keeping combustible debris and materials away from the house, carefully placed vegetation, and paying attention to things like fences, decks and outbuildings.

But here’s the part we think is worth considering even if you don’t live in California:

Wildfire embers don’t care where the state line is.

If you’re building in a forested, rural or wildfire-prone area anywhere in the West, creating separation between your home and combustible material simply makes sense.

And it’s much easier to design for Zone 0 before the house is built than to retrofit around it later.

That’s exactly what we’re now doing with our designs.

Build the house for the environment it’s going to live in.

When you hear “prefab,” is this what you picture?

There’s more than one way to prefabricate a building.

Instead of building an entire box in a factory and hauling it down the highway, we can fabricate the steel framing and wall sections in the shop, organize them for the project, transport them to the site, and assemble the structure there.

More work done in a controlled environment.
Less fabrication left for the jobsite.
And a building designed specifically for the property it’s going on.

That’s a different kind of prefab.

Have a property and a project in mind? Let’s talk.

You own the land. What are you going to build on it?

A backyard studio?

A guest house or ADU?

A workshop?

A small cabin?

A Q Cabin?

Or a full custom home?

That’s the part of Noncombustibles a lot of people don’t realize — we aren’t selling one building.

We design and manufacture noncombustible steel building systems for projects ranging from small Ready-to-Assemble structures all the way to custom residences.

So we're curious:

**What would YOU build?**

Tell us in the comments — or if you already have a property and an idea, send us a message.

One company. A lot of ways to build.

If you own property and have been thinking about adding something — small or large — Noncombustibles has more options than you may realize.

We design and manufacture:

• Ready-to-Assemble sheds and small structures
• Stacker ADUs, guest houses and studios
• Q Cabins and Quonset-style homes
• Custom homes and residences
• Garages, workshops and specialty buildings
• Prefabricated light-gauge steel structural systems

From a simple backyard building to a full custom home, the common thread is smart design, prefabrication and noncombustible steel construction.

Have a property and an idea? Start there. We’d be happy to talk through what might fit.

“Can’t plant shrubbery in concrete.”

California’s new Zone 0 wildfire standards are changing the way homes in fire-prone areas need to be designed — starting with the first five feet around the structure.

So we’re designing for it.

This is the first Noncombustibles home we've designed specifically with the new Zone 0 approach in mind, including a noncombustible perimeter around the structure.

Wildfire-resistant construction isn’t just about what the walls are made of. It’s the framing, exterior materials, roof, openings, decks, landscaping — and increasingly, what happens in those critical first few feet around the home.

The rules are changing, and good design changes with them.
