Wren Eagle Retreat

Wren Eagle Retreat Forest Vacation Retreat Vacation in the forest with the sound of wind in the trees.

On a private lane near the end of a dead-end road, you'll hear few cars, but will experience the sounds of birds, some local farm animals (goats and chickens) and other sounds of the forest. Whether you stay for a weekend or a week, you can relax and enjoy all that Chillicothe and Ross county has to offer or merely put your feet up and enjoy the quiet.

All of these are easy access from Wren Eagle Retreat. And if you are coming from the north, a good hike on the way is at A. W. Merion State Park and the 5-mile vigorous hike around the lake.

Looking for a trail to hike this spring? Come discover the beauty and history of the Appalachian Front — a region filled with stunning landscapes, ancient earthworks, and miles of hiking trails!

The Appalachian Front is the crown jewel of "natural" Ohio, offering solitude and breathtaking landscapes. Bounded by the Ohio River, the region's mist-laced hills are rich in history and natural beauty.

2000 years ago, this area was an immense ceremonial landscape with twenty-four Hopewell Cultural earthwork complexes, five of which are now World Heritage Sites. The Appalachian Front is also home to the enigmatic Serpent Mound, Fort Hill, the Arc’s Tremper Mound and Junction Earthwork sites, and many state-owned preserves, parks, and forests.

Spring is a great time to get outside and explore the trails of the Appalachian Front. The forests are greening up, wildflowers are blooming, and the weather is perfect for hiking.
