This is the true essence of Captain Barry’s Back Bay Cruises.

Three young first mates, fresh off an action-packed adventure cruise — fast, exciting, and full of hands-on fun. We pulled crab pots, scooped up creatures, explored the back bay, and tried everything we could get our hands on.

They were tired but proud. Learned a lot. Worked hard. Smiled big.

They told me, “We can’t wait till next year!” — and that says it all

Ever see oysters “spitting” at low tide? 🦪💦
When the tide goes out and the oysters are exposed to the air, you might notice little sq**rts of water shooting up here and there. It’s not just random—it’s actually how oysters feed and clean themselves.

They draw in water, filter out tiny bits of food like plankton, and then sq**rt the clean water back out. During low tide, when they’re partly out of the water, these little jets become easier to see. It’s kind of like they’re clapping their shells and giving you a tiny splash hello from the sandbar.

Nature doing its thing!

This morning, as I pulled up to the sandbar, a young bald eagle was waiting—perched quiet and steady on my duck blind. It watched me with calm eyes, as if measuring the moment. I filmed a little of its stillness, hoping to share the quiet power of a wild bird not yet fully grown. Then, just as silently as it arrived, it lifted into the wind and was gone

The kids asked me what if it rains. I said we’ll put on the oil skins, that means raincoats and continue the voyage. I told them this is not a Disneyland ride. It’s a real adventure we did not. We did not let the rain stop us. It was even better. The sun came right out after.

I always like it when the kids find something on their own. This is a sea urchin they couldn’t believe it was alive and how it tickles their hands when they pick it up. This is what the Captain Barry trip is all about.
