Pony Penning Times and information as well as fall roundup:

Pony Penning South End will occur on Saturday July 26th starting at 7 am

Pony Penning North End will occur Sunday July 27th starting at 6am

Beach Walk will commence at 6 am on Monday July 28th

Vet checks and buyback selection will take place Tuesday July 29th

Pony Swim Is set for a morning low slack tide on July 30th between 7-9am everyone is advised to be there much earlier than that.

THURSDAY JULY 31st, auction starting at 8 am BUT there will be no chairs or placeholding before then. Bidders/viewers will be allowed in at 6am in a first come first served manner that morning, you can park in the lot but nobody will be granted access until 6am and all persons or items are subject to search. Any chairs placed before then will be removed by law enforcement.

Friday August 1st Swim back approximately two hours later than Wednesday swim.

Fall Round Up has been scheduled for September 26,27 following the same scheduling as the past. 4:30 south end on 26th and 7 am north end on the 27th.

Pictured is Heaven a ‘24 buyback who got caught in a fence. She has been slowly but surely recuperating but she is certainly going to be a big “pony” she is standing next to a 16 hand horse so as a yearling she surely is going to be one of the largest in the herd. The vets are optimistic that she should be able to return in the fall and stay with the ‘25 buybacks and be released with them in the spring of 2026.

What is better than vacationing with your dogs?

Vacationing with your dogs AND your horses!!

Assateague allows horseback riding Sept 1 through March 14. If the OSV is open there is an area that is open year around. Note, the OSV does close for nesting birds, so if you want to be sure you can ride on the beach, book in the off season.

Seahorse Shanty is open year around on a flex schedule. Book a weekend, book a week. Anything in between, it‘s up to you!
