Canyon de Chelly Tours, LLC was founded by the late Leon Skyhorse Thomas. We have proudly provided 4x4, hiking and camping tours for over 30 years. Canyon de Chelly Tours was founded by the late, Leon Skyhorse Thomas, who was a film maker, recording artist and entrepreneur. He started Canyon de Chelly Tours in the late 80s, early 90s with the intention of educating and sharing the love for our canyon, culture, and language with guests worldwide. We provide hiking, SUV/Jeep and camping tours in Canyon de Chelly National Monument.

*US 160 CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS EAST OF KAYENTA*

Following heavy rain in the area, the roadway sustained damage east of Dennehotso near Laguna Wash and was closed for the safety of motorists.

Eastbound is closed at Navajo Route 59 (MM 402) and westbound is closed at the US 160/US 191 junction (milepost 435).

Seek an alternative route. There is no estimated time to reopen the highway.

Today (9/17/26) NPS has decided to close the canyon for tours through the reminder of the day.

If you’re driving to other areas of the Navajo Nation, please check for road closures, especially if you’re on US 160 between Kayenta and Mexican Hat.

Be safe, don’t attempt to cross flooded roadways and watch out for cattle.
