During a tour, we watched this raccoon licking leaves to get the morning dew. The raccoons in the 10,000 Islands are smaller than mainland raccoons, due to the lack of freshwater. If your body is smaller you can survive with less water .

This is a female baby Osprey on the nest. Three clues tell you that it is a baby, and female.
Baby Ospreys have orange eyes, and their wing feathers are edged in white. They will have these characteristics until they are about 1 1/2 to 2 years old.
Female Ospreys, even as babies, have brown feathers in the upper breast. Males have an all-white upper breast.
