Here’s how our professional powder coaters prevent the Faraday Cage Effect.

In powder coating, the Faraday Cage Effect is a common problem that makes it difficult to get powder to adhere inside tight corners, deep recesses, or around sharp angles.

During powder coating, the powder is electrically charged, the metal is grounded, and the charged powder is then attracted to the grounded surface.

But in areas like inside corners, tight channels, deep recesses, and welded box corners, the electric field “pushes” powder away because electric charge lines cannot bend sharply. ⚡ The electrostatic field builds up at the edge and powder naturally deposits on the outside surfaces where there is less resistance.

✅ Skilled powder applicators (like ours) use several techniques to overcome this challenge:

🔸 Lowering spray voltage so powder can get into the recess instead of being repelled
🔸 Adjusting gun angle and distance for better pe*******on
