The Croatia Most Travellers Never Reach

Beyond the beach clubs, beyond the packed ports, there’s another Adriatic. Silent bays. Raw islands. National parks where the loudest thing you hear is the wind. Welcome to Kornati.

Deep in the forests of Istria, you join a local truffle hunter and his dogs on a real hunt through the woods. No scripts, no tourist trails. Just you, the rustle of leaves underfoot, and the quiet thrill of the search.

When the dogs find their treasure, so do you. 🍄‍🟫

Back at the table, those same truffles will be shaved over a meal prepared just for you. Local wine, warm hospitality, and flavours that could only ever exist in this corner of Croatia.

This is not a cooking class. This is not a food tour. This is what happens when a destination shares its most guarded secrets with the right guests.

Croatia, Via style.

The best game of pickleball you’ll ever play will end with a jump into the Adriatic.

Two thousand years old and still going strong. 🏛️

P**a sits at the southern tip of Istria and at the center of it, right in the middle of the modern city, stands a Roman amphitheater that has survived intact since the first century AD. One of the six largest in the world. You walk past a cafe, turn a corner, and there it is. Still there. Still enormous. Still quietly extraordinary.

That is P**a’s great quality. History embedded so completely into daily life that it stops feeling like a monument and starts feeling like a neighbor.

The old forum still functions as the town square. A Temple of Augustus stands at one end, coffee terraces at the other. Romans built here. Venetians left their mark. The Austro-Hungarian navy docked here. All of it layers on top of each other in a city that wears its past without making a performance of it.

What makes it special:
- The P**a Arena, a Roman amphitheater that still hosts concerts and film screenings today
- A working port city with genuine local energy that the purely tourist towns sometimes lack
- The Istrian coastline on its doorstep, with some of the region’s best swimming just outside the center

Ancient history that somehow never feels like homework. 💙

Not every sailing yacht is built from a passion for the sea. Clase Azul is.

Six staterooms. A full-beam master suite. A sundeck designed for long evenings.
Fire pit lit, whirlpool bath warm, the Croatian coastline drifting past in silence.
This is what it looks like when sailing doesn’t ask you to compromise on comfort.

Some destinations are beautiful. Split is something else entirely. 🌊

For discerning travelers, this city delivers in ways that very few places in Europe can. Private dining within the walls of a 4th-century Roman palace. A chartered yacht waiting at the harbor as the sun sets over the Adriatic. Access to the finest local producers, the most intimate wine cellars, the quieter corners that most visitors never find.

This is the Split we curate. Not a tour. A bespoke experience, designed around you.

The smallest town in the world. Seriously. 🌿

Hum sits in the Istrian interior with a population that has hovered around 20 to 30 people for as long as anyone can remember. It has walls. It has a gate. It has a church, a restaurant and a grappa made from mistletoe that the locals call Biska. That is essentially the whole town and it is completely wonderful.

Walking through the gate feels like stepping into something that should not still exist. A medieval settlement, intact, inhabited, functioning at its own quiet pace while the rest of the world moves on without it 🏰
There is a running joke that the mayor of Hum is elected by all the literate residents scratching their vote onto wooden tablets. It may not be entirely a joke.

What makes it special:
🏰 Genuinely the smallest town in the world with its own walls, gate and civic identity
🌿 Biska, the local mistletoe grappa that you will not find anywhere else on earth
🖼️ Glagolitic script carved into the surrounding landscape along a dedicated trail

One of those detours that becomes the story you tell about the whole trip. 💙
