This is something that so many modern songwriters seems to miss in my opinion - they get the sounds right, they get the mood right - but it ends up flat..... they miss the personal connection with the material. Not "trying to get the best guitar sounds" or "write the best solo" - just connecting with the mind of the listener. Making them dance is fun, making them think is art. Making them heal is genius.

Blues confession:
"I’d rather hear one old guy with a guitar than a giant modern stage production.”

Now granted, I consider myself more of a country Blues guy - while I have all the necessary records of the big bands and such.... I still go back to the Lightnin Hopkins, John Lee Ho**er, Skip James, Blind Willie McTell's of the world.... that's where my heart lives.
