So we ended this adventure in Amsterdam for a few days. We had a city tour. Then last night took a canal boat cruise. This morning we went through the Anne Frank museum. This was so interesting and sad at the same time. We couldn’t take pictures in the museum. Then we wondered around the city and took in the culture of Amsterdam. Tomorrow we fly home. It’s been a fantastic trip but I am ready to be home.

We sailed all night and this morning but we made it to the Netherlands and docked at Kinderdijk. We toured the windmills. Very interesting how the windmills were built to help with the management of water flooding. Now on to Amsterdam and tomorrow morning we exit the ship. The crew on this ship has been over the top amazing and the food was some of the best I have had.

Cologne Germany at night.

Today we docked in Cologne Germany- a much bigger city then we have been visiting. We took a guided city tour this morning. We visited the old city center as well as the cathedral. The building architecture was not as ornate as we have seen as 80% of Cologne was destroyed during the war but the cathedral was saved from the bombing. We also went to the Lindt chocolate factory and museum. That was interesting. We have also celebrated two wedding anniversaries while on this trip. Congratulations to Marcia and Steve. Also to Tammy and Scott. Tomorrow we sail to the Netherlands.

Today was a great day. After sailing in the morning then we visited the Marksburg Castle in the afternoon. The Marksburg Castle is the only castle in Germany that was never bombed or raided so the castle remains original. It was built in 1283. Then we docked in Koblen and road the sky tram to the top of the fortress.

Today is going to be a two parter- this morning we sailed all morning and were able to take in the sights and all the beautiful castles. The landscape here appears so untouched over the years and it takes you back in time. Some of these castles were constructed in the early 1000’s- can’t imagine how difficult it was for them to build these.

A little fun in Wurzburg, Germany

Today we stopped in Wertheim Germany. A really cute little town with a castle overlooking the town. Went on a city tour and saw the sites. Again the architecture is so pretty. We saw an old phone booth they turned into a book exchange library. The little blue statue is a symbol of optimism for the town.
Also, last night we had a glass blower on the ship and I got to blow my own Christmas ornament- it was cool. This afternoon we are sailing to our next port.
