As the air cools and autumn settles in, our mountain home becomes a cozy retreat. This time of year, we also get some amazing, eight-legged friends who like to call our our deck, porch and doorways home (all outside): the spotted orb weaver spiders. 🕷️
These beautiful, harmless spiders are a natural part of our mountain ecosystem. They build intricate, circular webs overnight to catch pesky insects, and their presence is a sign of a healthy environment! While we think they’re pretty neat, we know they can be a bit startling if you’re not expecting them.
To make your stay as comfortable as possible, we have two gentle requests:
1. Be aware of their webs around the entryways, especially in the mornings.
2. If a web is in your way, please gently knock it down with a broom or stick. The spider will simply build a new one the next night.
Thanks for your understanding and for helping us live in harmony with our mountain neighbors! We can’t wait to host you soon.
