These was a awesome cruise. Weather was great, not too hot, seas a little choppy, but otherwise good.
Usually when we go to Amber Cove we usually go to the pool in the port and hang out. This time we did a Carnival shore excursion, for 49.00 called Mountain View and City tour. David, our tour guide was awesome. We went to the mountain top and could see our ship in the harbor. Walked through a tropical garden, saw amazing flowers. We then drove down the mountain into town, did shopping, then a city tour. It was a great tour. I am not usually a fan ship sponsored tours, but this one was well worth the money.
San Juan, we just got off the ship and walked to Old Town, and went into the local shops, ate some amazing food. Trevor and Brooke walked up the steep hill to the fort. Robin and I walked back to the ship, stopping here and there shopping.
St. Marteen we did a tour with Bernard Tours. It was 55.00 and it was about 6 hours. We did 2 beach stops, one at Moho Beach, where we ate and watched the jets fly over and land, awesome. St. Marteen is one side Dutch gambling aloud, French side no gambling but n**e sunbathing is allowed. It was very interesting about the two countries sharing the island, but with different laws etc. Tour was a bit long but enjoyable.
St. Thomas we took at taxi to Megan’s Bay. There were 4 ships in port by 7:00 AM, we arrived at 8:00 am to the beach which was beautiful, but you couldn’t rent chairs or umbrellas until 9:30, boy there were there some mad people. When they did open the folks renting the the chairs and umbrellas were very rude, didn’t say thank you. They needed some customer service training. Then you went to get your chair from the attendant and drag it yourself to your spot. To get your 5.00 deposit back you dragged the chair back, get the attendant to stamp your receipt. It was 10.00 to rent the chair plus a 5.00 deposit. I guess they thought cruise ship people were going to steal the chairs and take them back to the ship. Word of advice here, the ships offer Beach Breaks to the beach for 54.00 pp. You can take a taxi for 8.00 pp, rent your chair a lot cheaper, because that 54.00 doesn’t include the chair rental. There is a 5.00 entry fee as well. Next time I’m going to Corki Beach to see if it is better or worse.
The ship was good, a new cruise director this was his first ship and I thought he did good. Their production show wasn’t great. Comics good well 2 of the 3 were.
