A huge shoutout to the amazing Clear Lake Ag Ed and FFA students for all their hard work growing and prepping the beautiful baskets that now brighten our streets! These early birds were out before the sun this morning making sure downtown looked its absolute best. 🐓☀️🌺

Part Four
As part of the remodeling process we repurposed as much of the original Schoolhouse as possible. The windows were carefully removed and were taken to their next home. Stay tuned to see how they were repurposed and given a new lift at a new location.

It’s Official!

In the winter of 2022 we decided to update the exterior of the Schoolhouse. We began by removing the wood siding and adding insulation board along with new siding. As the photos show many of the broken windows had been boarded up and sections of siding had been replaced and painted with a gray primer paint.

Doxies review: The schoolhouse is beautiful, an amazing makeover of an 1800s school. The kitchen is fantastic! The handmade long table was created from the original floor, a beautiful new stove, huge fridge, huge sink, snacks...beyond our expectations! Main floor bathroom with a gorgeous shower is terrific, 2 more baths upstairs; one laundry room one upstairs, one downstairs. The schoolhouse sleeps 8, was perfect for our family of 7. We loved showing our grandchildren what Clear Lake is like in the winter. They made lots of snow angels by the school, then did some ice skating just a few blocks from the schoolhouse. They also spent lots of time on the electric keyboard.

Part Two: In 2012 the 1870's Schoolhouse was moved just a few feet to it's current location. It was placed on a new foundation. Repairs were made to the roof, siding and windows to prevent further deterioration.

Schoolhouses were very common in the 1800s and early 1900s throughout rural areas. However, a two-story Schoolhouse was not as common. Sometimes the teacher lived in part of the second floor. Students would often tend the wood stove which heated the schoolhouse. This schoolhouse was built in the 1800s and remains in the community despite being moved a short distance on two occasions.
