The America250PA Countdown to 250 Experiential Unit made a journey to the Clearfield County Fair today!

This unit is part of the E.P.I.C. statewide mission—to Educate, Preserve, Innovate, and Celebrate!

We were thrilled to host the A250PA team and welcome all the visitors to the mobile unit today!

This is what it looks like when history rolls forward—and invites all of Pennsylvania along for the ride.

The Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America250PA) was established by the legislature and Governor in 2018 to plan, encourage, develop, and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania's integral role in that event, and the impact of its people on the nation's past, present, and future.

They are excited to announce the launch of our newest project - the America250PA Countdown to 250 Mobile Experiential Unit! The mobile unit is a rolling celebration of our country's 250th birthday and Pennsylvania's proud place in the American story. This unit, powered by Penske, is a custom-built experience on wheels designed to bring the Semiquincentennial directly to Pennsylvanians- no matter where they live.

The Clearfield County A250PA Advisory Committee recently met for their monthly meeting to discuss plans for the upcoming Semiquincentennial that will be celebrated throughout the nation in 2026. On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Advisory Committee is currently in the planning stages of making 2026 truly an EPIC year. Help celebrate America PA 250 by making and designing an apron to celebrate PA 250. Use any combination of red, white, and blue only. The type of apron must be a half apron, bib apron, or printed apron and must be made in 2025. The apron will be judged on overall appearance, creativity, workmanship/suitability, design, and color.
Pre-registered entries will be accepted until 7:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025. The aprons will be displayed at the Clearfield County Fair, where a winner will be chosen on Sunday, July 13th.

Today is Flag Day, a date that marks the adoption of our “Stars and Stripes” flag on June 14th, 1777.

Here are some historical facts about the U.S. Flag you may not know:
🇺🇸 January 1, 1776: The first United States flag, the “Grand Union,” was displayed by George Washington. It became the unofficial national flag, preceding the 13-star, 13-stripe version.
🇺🇸 June 14, 1777: The Stars and Stripes were adopted by the Continental Congress as the Flag of the United States.
🇺🇸 June 14, 1877: Flag Day was observed nationally for the first time on the 100th anniversary of the Stars and Stripes—and continues today.
🇺🇸 June 14, 1937: Pennsylvania became the first state in the United States to celebrate Flag Day officially as a state holiday.
🇺🇸 July 4, 1960: The new 50-star flag was flown for the first time—the flag that still flies today.

Rickard took part in the 200-year Clearfield County Bicentennial activities 50 years ago.
