I really love the layout of this playground! It's open and spacious, but not so much that I can't keep a safe eye on my kiddos while they play.

There's balance equipment, swings, a fun slide, a climbing tree, and lots of room for the kids to run around and have fun.

There's also a large pavilion and a good number of picnic tables, so you can pack a lunch and enjoy the day.

Number one on the new Nature-Themed Playground Guide ( https://clewithkids.com/outdoor/best-nature-themed-playgrounds-in-the-cleveland-area ) -The Rocky River Reservation Nature Play in North Olmsted has!

The nature play has a rock wall, balance stumps, and a balance beam and a huge Wood Duck 🦆.

It’s not a huge area, but our kids really enjoy it.
To get to the new nature play, walk across the bridge right past the nature center. The nature play area is located on the other side of the bridge, to the right.

The Rocky River Reservation also has so much to do and explore that we usually spend hours here when we come.

Other things to do at the Rocky River Reservation:
🌳 Nature Center (one of the best in the area. Includes an indoor treehouse!)

🌳 Storywalk

🌳 Fort Hill steps (155 new stairs that our kids love climbing😮 )

🌳 Trails with boardwalks and cobblestone steps.
The Rocky River Reservation is absolutely one of our favorite places to spend a family day.

There’s a new duck in town 🦆

We love the Cleveland Metroparks’, Rocky River Reservation. It feels like every time we turn around, they’re adding something new.

The large duck is located next to the new Nature Play. You can park by the nature center and once you walk past the nature center, cross the bridge on your right and the nature play is located right after the bridge.

🦋 FREE butterfly house 🦋

This is your friendly reminder to visit the free butterfly house at the Miller Nature Preserve before the season ends.

The gardens around the butterfly house and hiking trails are also free and great to explore. And if you’d like, there is also a small conservatory on the Miller Nature Preserve grounds to visit that cost 2 dollars per person.

How we spent our day exploring Berea, Ohio.

1. We started out our day visiting the Berea Falls Scenic Overlook- Barret Overlook, 136 E Bagley Rd, Berea, OH 44017.

We looked from the overlook and then we took the trail (located to the right of the overlook) down to the creek to get a closer look. It was really beautiful.

2. Then we drove down the street to Spudnut Donuts, 650 Prospect Rd, Berea, OH 44017. The donuts at spudnuts were huge, fresh and so delicious. Both my son and my sister declared Spudnuts to be their favorite donuts.

3. Then we headed to Wallace Lake, Berea, OH 44017 The beach is very clean and one of our favorites. You can also swim in the lake and there are lifeguards. They do test the water quality so if the levels are bad, swimming isn’t allowed that day.

4. Next we cooled off at the McKelvey Park Splash Pad, 30 E Bridge St, Berea, OH 44017. This has been one of my daughter’s favorite splash pads for years. It’s more of an old style splash pad but they love that tons of water comes out of the center.

5. We finished off our trip by visiting Coe Lake Park, Berea, OH. You could spend hours here. There’s two playgrounds, a treehouse and some beautiful trails to walk around the lake.

‼️ 🎥 TWO movies in the park this week at Crocker Park 🍿 ‼️

* July 31 – Monster’s University (G)

Crocker Park has outdoor movies EVERY Thursday (and Wednesday this week) night in the summer.

We always bring a picnic blanket, the kids sleeping bags, and a few lawn chairs.

Showtime will be at sundown on the Union Square lawn in front of Regal Cinemas and Nordstrom.

🏝️ FREE Family fun 🏖️

We LOVE Wallace Lake in Berea.

If you’re looking for a relaxing day, playing in the sand, this is the spot.

They also have concessions where you can get food and Honey Hut ice cream 🍦.

You can swim here when water levels are safe for swimming and there are lifeguards on duty.

Our favorite part of Wallace Lake is the sand. It’s smooth and not rocky. The kids love building with it.

There are really nice new bathrooms.

A new-to-us (but definitely not new 😆) spot- Miller Park in Avon Lake.

We’ve been spending a lot of time by the lake this year so we wanted to check out a pier we’ve never been to.

There is a pier and an older small playground. There’s also some benches, tables and public restrooms.

This is a popular spot for boats (there’s a boat launch here as well) and fishing so if you have a kiddo who loves boats 🚤 they will be able to see plenty of boats on a nice day.

There is even a fish cleaning station and the day we went it was super busy so we got to see first hand how the fishermen clean and cut their fish 🐟
