Thanks to everyone who came out last night for the Strange & Spooky Adventure Club sunset hike to haunted Lonesome Lock. Over 30 attendees!!! What an amazing turnout!!! I'll be looking to host at least one hike per month throughout the summer and fall and will share those details here.

Join us on the evening of Sunday, May 18, as we kick off the 2025 season with the Strange & Spooky Adventures Club hike to Lonesome Lock.

Presently located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, just north of the Village of Peninsula, Lonesome Lock is said to be the most haunted lock in the state of Ohio, with terrifying tales of paranormal activity dating back to the 1800s.

Discover why so many "Canallers" took the delay at Peninsula or Boston Mill, rather than brave the dangers and perils of passing through Lonesome Lock after nightfall.

This one hour and fifteen minute walk departs from the Lock 29 Trailhead (1648 Mill St.) in Peninsula at 7:30 pm sharp and arrives at Lonesome Lock around 8:00, where stories of its ghostly history and lore will be shared. The group returns from this two mile walk at sunset, around 8:45. All are invited to join us for after-hike refreshments and reflection at the nearby Winking Lizard Tavern.

This event is handicapped accessible, open to all ages, and is completely free (tips are always welcome and greatly appreciated.) No registration required... just show up and be on time as we leave at 7:30 on the dot. Rain or shine.

And here we have it. It is with great pleasure that we announce that we'll be hosting tours of the Franklin Castle starting on May 1st. We look forward to welcoming you to what many have called Ohio's most haunted house.

We are delighted to invite back our talented writer and Historian William G Krejci to conduct a well documented tour, starting on the 1st of May at 7pm sharp.
