🚨 Old Town Autopilot Owners — I Need Your Input! 🚨
My Old Town Sportsman Autopilot 120 has started making a strange mechanical sound when I turn the Minn Kota motor left and right.
I did some research and found photos from another Autopilot owner who opened up their steering motor and found significant corrosion around the gears and internal components. Picture attached! Not my motor housing!
The interesting part? There are three factory openings along the top edge of the steering motor housing. 🤔
Are these for ventilation/air circulation? Could they potentially allow water or saltwater to reach the internal components?
I don't know the answer, and that's why I'm asking the Autopilot community.
