Lee and I would like to let you all know that yLoop Road Trips is no longer in business. A fond thank you to our incredible employees for sharing their passion for the park and for their desire to create a business based on accuracy, sustainability, safety and fun. Another thank you to our kind customers for your trust and support. We can honestly say there was not a bad apple in the bunch! And finally, thank you to the businesses and people of the City of Cody for supporting our efforts and cheering us on. It has been an amazing experience, but it is time for us to move on to other things.

The librarians are trying something new—they're serializing a rare book, Yellowstone Park Romance from 1911, just in time for Valentine's Day. Follow the adventures of Clara and her gentleman hobo as they fall in love amidst the wonders of Yellowstone (warning: much flowery Victorian language to be had). Check it out on the Heritage Center's blog: http://www.nps.gov/yell/blogs/museumblog.htm; Twitter: ; Instagram: http://instagram.com/yellowstonenps

We stop at Pahaska Tepee just east of the entrance to Yellowstone for a short break and let our guests visit Buffalo Bill's original 1904 hunting lodge. Winter is a very different time here than summer.

Winter is a tough time for these little birds.

Winter is a tough time for these little birds.

Imagine being a mountain chickadee last night—talk about living on the edge. Chickadees survive frigid nights by going into regulated hypothermia, dropping their body temperature about 20 degrees. This saves 20% of the fat they would otherwise burn. Still, chickadees spend much of each night shivering, which metabolizes most of their body fat. Each day they need to find enough food to replace the fat they burned the night before. Something to think about the next time you hear a chickadee calling dee-dee-dee.
