Lake Río Cuarto is a fresh water crater lake located in the northern highlands of Costa Rica, in the town that bears it’s name, Rio Cuarto. It is currently the deepest natural lake in Costa Rica at 66-metre (217 ft).

You can kayak here for about $13 for one hour. It is a true hidden gem. There’s very few visitors during the week.

Two-toed sloth. Sloths are classed as herbivores. Their diet consists mainly of leaves but occasionally they will eat fruit and they have been known to eat bird’s eggs, lizards and insects. In the wild, they live in the rainforest so have access to a wide range of trees and plant species.

They are unique in the animal world in that they do spend most of their life upside down. They eat, sleep and even give birth upside down and because of this, their internal organs have actually re-positioned over a period of time.
