Seniors Claire Benett, Peter Schelker and Sophia Dronova partnered with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), in support of the United States Space Force, for their industry capstone project. For their project, the group continued the work initiated by a capstone group last semester and developed a cutting-edge software solution designed to significantly enhance risk assessment automation and governance, risk, and compliance capabilities across Space Force systems. The software will be formally presented to problem owners within Operation Space Force, with the goal of transitioning the technology into live-use environments.

โ€œThe project represents a powerful example of how academic, industry, and government collaboration can foster real-world impact while providing students with hands-on experience solving complex national defense challenges,โ€ said Major Eric Griffin, Academic Engagements Lead for USSF/S6C-Cyberspace Operations.

The group was advised by Professor Shreyas Kumar, director of the AGGIES (AI for Government, Grid, Infrastructure & Engineering Security) lab.

Thank you to Lt Colonel Theresa Kopecky, Director, USSF OL-Austin, and Staff Sergeant Oslyn Fernandez Alago, Deputy Academic Engagements, from Space Force for visiting us this week!
