Well here is your history lesson for today!

The History of Barbie in Disney World:

Barbie had her own stage show in EPCOT in the early 1990s.

Mattel, the company behind Barbie, began in 1945. Disney and Mattel have a long and storied history that dates back to 1955 when Mattel began television advertising through the Mickey Mouse Club. Through the years, the two companies have worked together on a variety of projects. Mattel has even sponsored several rides throughout the history of the Disney Parks.

In 1993, Mattel was looking for a way to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Barbie and due to their long relationship, they turned to Disney. The two decided to work on a stage show that would be in the Disney Parks, and that’s how the idea for The Magical World of Barbie came in.

The Magical World of Barbie was a stage show that ran from 1993 to 1995 in EPCOT.

In an effort to appeal to younger guests, the park underwent several refurbishments and changes, including the arrival of the Magical World of Barbie. The premise of the stage show was that Barbie had made friends all around the world over the years, making World Showcase the ideal location.

The show featured Barbie, Ken, and a cast of other characters, such as Skipper, Midge, and Stacie. Through the use of props and vehicles, Barbie and her friends traveled around the world with various song and dance numbers.

The show came to an end in May 1995, after less than two years of performances. While the show didn’t last a tremendously long time, it has gone down among Disney and Barbie fans as a quintessentially 90s piece of history.
