Option 1 gives you 24-hour road condition and other pertinent information, recorded daily.
**The roads are well plowed and clear, up to the mile marker indicated on tecording. They're not snow-packed or icy ... Just to ease your mind of that is a concern and a deciding factor for you to go๐**
Driving Pikes Peak is a must-do! It's gorgeous year- round! I love to go up in the winter and see all of the snowy mountain scapes and catch a snowboarder or 2, as well as view the snowcapped Sangre de Cristo mountain range off in the distance, visible between mile 16 & 17.
I love to go up in the summer and hike, bike, and sit on the shores of the reservoirs and watch as the water glistens on a sunny day, or witness a successful catch of fish.
Some think a mountain is really steep- and at certain points, that's true.
At other points, you can sit at a table for a picnic where the terrain is mostly flat, or paddle a canoe out on one of the reservoirs. Go see for yourself๐
Just call the number at the top of the post so you're not disappointed!
For instance, today, 6/4/23 The Peak was only open to mile 16 of 19, due to snow and icy conditions. No touring vehicles were allowed to the summit. The skies above and around Pikes Peak have a weather pattern of their own!
It can be open to the summit in the morning and closed to mile 16 by 1:00pm! Or closed in the morning beyond mile 14 and open to the summit by 1:00pm.
It can be open all the way to the top one day and closed the next day!
That's all part of the many majestic aspects of The Mountain!
