Episode 5 of Road to 13.1 🏃‍♀️💙

Today was a good one. Tyler and I finally got to run outside together, we tackled some hills, and they definitely humbled me a little 😂

But this journey has become about so much more than learning how to run 13.1 miles. As an autism mom, I’ve watched my child face things that are hard, uncomfortable, and overwhelming and keep going in his own way and in his own time. He inspires me more than he’ll ever know.

So when my legs are tired, the hills feel impossible, or my brain starts telling me I can’t do this, I think about who I’m doing this for. 💙

Every mile has a little more meaning behind it.

And apparently today’s miles also came with a gnat stuck to my sweaty nose… because we have to stay humble. 💀😂

One run closer to 13.1. For him. 💙

Half marathon training as a mom doesn’t always look like pretty outdoor miles. 😂

We’ve still got a little one under the weather, Tyler’s at work, and getting outside for a run just isn’t happening today.

So today, the Road to 13.1 looks like treadmill miles at home.

I’m learning that training for this race isn’t going to be about having the perfect run every single time. It’s going to be about finding a way to keep showing up—even when life changes the plan.

One more run closer to 13.1. 🏃🏼‍♀️🤍

9 years ago today, before the babies, the travel business, and all the Disney trips… there was Jamaica.

We said “I do” with our toes in the sand, and apparently that should’ve been my first clue that travel was always going to be a pretty big part of our story.

Nine years later, he’s still my favorite person to travel with, my biggest supporter, and the one who goes along with approximately 97% of my crazy travel ideas.

Happy 9 years to us. 🤍

And yes… looking at these pictures has me thinking maybe we need to make it back to the beach for anniversary #10.

The ride they wanted to do again and again.
Swimming at the hotel when you thought you “should” be in the parks.
Holding your hand during the fireworks.
The silly little moments you never planned. 🤍

You don’t have to do everything to give your kids an incredible Disney vacation.

Sometimes the best Disney days are the ones where you throw the plan out the window and just enjoy being there. ✨

One of those Disney tips you don’t realize you need until you REALLY need it. 👀🏰

If your child is autistic, sensory-sensitive, or simply terrified of automatic toilets, throw a pack of Post-it notes in your park bag!

Cover the automatic-flush sensor before they sit down, then remove it when they’re completely finished. Such a tiny thing—but it can make a HUGE difference for a child who struggles with loud, unexpected sounds. 🤍

These are the little things I want my sensory families thinking about BEFORE their Disney vacation—not when they’re already overwhelmed in the middle of the parks.

Okay, Disney moms… this Amazon find is TOO GOOD. 😍🏰
