To everyone else, they were just Disney ducks. š¦š
But every morning at Old Key West, he would wait by our balcony for them to come visit.
And I mean WAIT. š
We werenāt leaving for the parks until those ducks showed up.
It became part of his routine. Wake up. Watch for the ducks. Get SO excited when they finally came. Thenāand only thenācould our Disney day begin. āØ
And thatās something my autistic child has taught me about Disney: sometimes the magic isnāt the castle, the rides or the character you waited months to meet.
Sometimes itās a couple of ducks showing up at your balcony every morning. š„¹
When you have a child who experiences the world a little differently, you learn to stop deciding what should be magical and start paying attention to what already is. š
And I think thatās pretty magical, too.
