Ocracoke Island in the Off-Season - You’ll have to take a ferry and leave your dignity behind. The only folks around are retired pirates and gulls with attitude. Nobody’s checking your Snap Map when there’s no Wi-Fi and the only witness is a confused pelican.

Linville Caverns - Technically a tourist attraction, but it doubles as a natural cover story. “Oh, we were just admiring some rock formations” sounds way better than “we were caught on the Jumbotron at Coldplay.”

Breakfast at the Hardee’s beside Tracy’s Café in Bailey- Right across from handmade biscuit heaven… and somehow still open. Honestly, that Hardee’s could quit breakfast altogether and no one would notice.
