We worked on this for days.
The waves. The high fives. The ātheyāre just friendsā pep talks.
We pointed out pictures, watched videos, practiced hugs, and did everything we could to prepare for the big character moment.
And then⦠toddler mode.
Suddenly the larger-than-life magic can feel a little big, a little loud, and a little overwhelming.
As parents, we do our best to lead the way ... showing them itās safe, smiling first, giving hugs, waving, and reminding them this is supposed to be fun.
But hereās the part that got meā¦
These characters? They get it.
They know when your little one needs space. They know when a wave is better than a hug. They know how to crouch down, slow the moment, and meet your child exactly where they are.
And somehow, even through the nerves, they still create magic.
Maybe itās not the picture-perfect sprint into their arms you imagined⦠but it becomes something even better...your child learning that magic can be gentle too.
So if your toddler is scared, thatās okay. Keep showing them. Keep encouraging them. Keep believing in the magic.
Because those character moments? Theyāre pretty amazing at making even the shyest little hearts sparkle. (Swipe for the last few pictures)
