Hard to believe this architectural icon is right here in Columbus. 🙌
First Christian Church, designed in 1942 by Eliel Saarinen, was the first modern-style building in our city and helped kick off the incredible architecture legacy Columbus is known for today. The project even included contributions from Eero Saarinen and Charles Eames — some pretty big names in design.
We’re lucky to have buildings like this as part of everyday life here. And while this photo is stunning, photos really don’t do it justice. You have to see it in person.
Want to experience it up close? Visit Columbus offers architecture tours that stop here and at many of the other amazing buildings around town.
Have you ever visited First Christian Church or taken an architecture tour in Columbus?
Built in 1942, the First Christian Church was designed by Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen, with some details overseen by his son Eero Saarinen and his associate Charles Eames. It was the first modern-style building in Columbus, Indiana, a city that has become a destination for fine art and architecture lovers. The building has received praise for its asymmetrical design and is designated as a National Historic Landmark.
