💬 What inspired you to start your business (or join the company you are associated with)?
"I started my business by fluke. People saw me sharing my family trips to Walt Disney World, and they started asking me to help. So I helped people for 5 years, not knowing I could get paid for it. I always thought Travel Agents cost extra. Then, when I found out it didn't cost any extra to work with a travel agent, and that I could help people from home with Walt Disney World trips, that is when I was like, "Let me figure this out." So I found an agency to join as a travel agent, and I joined.
I worked under two different businesses for 4 years, and then in October 2017, I decided to open my own agency. Under the previous two agencies, I never knew if or when I might get paid for the work I did, and that didn't work for me. So that is why I started my own agency."
💬 What’s something unique about your business that most people don’t know?
"I manage 49 agents across the country, and I really want people on my team who care about others and just want to help people. Not only do we strive to save people time, money, and stress, but we also help people to travel and learn about other people, places, cultures, religions, etc. We hope to help our clients to learn and understand people who are different than themselves, and hopefully grow empathy for people to help us all love one another more, and eventually change the world."
💬 What’s your best-selling or most popular product/service?
"Disney Destinations and All-Inclusive vacations are our most popular bookings, but we also book a lot of cruises."
💬 What’s your favorite part about being a business owner in our community?
"I love being the go-to for travel and being known for giving back. I love that people refer my agency to others, and we can serve and help people learn about our big, beautiful world."
☕ What keeps you going through the day?
"Usually a soft drink or a water mix with caffeine in it. What can I say...... I'm weird and embrace it!"
☝What’s the funniest or most memorable customer experience/moment you’ve had?
"I have so many memorable experiences. I just LOVE making things possible for others! Probably the one customer experience that has had the greatest impact on my business was one that was kind of sad. I had a client who was supposed to travel in like 4 days. Her lifelong best friend was tragically killed in a car crash. She had to deliver the eulogy. I was able to work numerous hours on her behalf, get her vacation rearranged, and she was able to fly down to Mexico 2 days later to meet the rest of her extended family for their trip. She was able to honor her best friend and make memories with her own family in that same week. Because of my service, and doing for her as I would want done for my own family, they have sent probably hundreds of clients my way. Treating people the way I want to be treated is something I really stress to the agents on my team.”
🍴 What’s your go-to lunch or treat from another local business?
"I rarely eat lunch out, but one of my go-to local businesses is Superburger. I love the junior burgers dressed and mozzarella sticks. I like the local-raised beef aspect and the fact it's a hometown business that has been here for a long time."
✨ What’s one thing on your bucket list — business or personal?
"Ummmm bucket list. I have a huge bucket list. I want to travel everywhere. I would love to spend at least a month in Italy. I am a horrible travel planner for myself because I'm always busy planning for everyone else. So when I travel, I am more of a - Let's wing it and figure it out - probably because I travel so often, and I know things will always change. So I just go with the flow and let it happen, haha."
💡Advice you'd give someone that wanted to become a business owner?
"Do you research and follow your heart. Find something that you absolutely love and figure out a way to make a business out of it. You just never know what will work and what won't. But if you want something badly enough, and you are willing to hustle and grind, and through prayer, anything is possible."
🏡 What’s your favorite thing about small-town life?
"People come together when there is an emergency or something bad happens. We all fight and argue and bicker all the time. But when it comes down to it, we all help one another as well."
🎉 What’s something you’re proud of accomplishing?
"Wearing my heart on my sleeve and following God's calling for my life. I love serving others and cheering people on. I simply want to help make everyone's lives better. If I can help to make one life better, then I feel like I am doing my job."
"I have a ton of business goals. I want to inspire others and let people know that even if you are different, please don't see that as a bad thing. Different is better than better. Set yourself apart. Follow your dreams. March to the beat of your own drummer. In all this, I truly just want to help people live their best lives and love one another and all of God's creation. That is it. :)"
