After years of considering it, we’re finally attending EFI University’s Accelerated Training in Lake Havasu!
We’ve wanted to take this class for years, but the cost always had to be weighed against where that money could produce the greatest return for our business.
So why now?
For years, we’ve approached engine building much like many of our customers. We purchased proven parts, followed combinations that others had already developed, and relied on their experience.
But as we get more serious about racing our F23, we’re entering unfamiliar territory.
We’re developing our own header, exploring different camshafts, and planning comparisons to understand what actually works on our engine.
And that requires more than just installing parts and looking at horsepower numbers.
From our understanding, this accelerated class will give us hands-on experience building a tune from scratch on real vehicles using a hub dyno.
We’re hoping to develop a better understanding of how engine calibration works, how changes affect performance, and how to approach testing with greater confidence.
Will completing this class mean we’ll know everything necessary to tune and develop our own F23? Probably not.
But it’s a start.
The goal isn’t to come home claiming we’re professional tuners or engine builders. It’s to build a foundation that helps us understand what we’re doing, recognize what we still need to learn, and make more informed decisions as our projects develop.
For years, we invested in parts and solutions developed by other people.
Now we’re investing in the knowledge to better understand and develop our own.
And just like our header and camshaft testing, we plan to share what we learn along the way.
