Our goal with this 1985 Honda Civic B17 VTEC swap is California emissions compliance.

To get there, we’re running a factory P61 ECU, factory oxygen sensor, MAP sensor, intake air temperature sensor, charcoal canister, VTEC pressure switch, VTEC solenoid, and the emissions equipment the original USDM B17 was designed to use.

This car has not been through emissions testing yet, but getting everything to communicate properly was the first major hurdle.

A huge thank you to Monotech USA for building the engine harness and adapter harness that allowed us to integrate the factory OBD1 ECU and engine management system into this chassis.

No Hondata.
No emissions delete software.
No check engine lights.

The engine fired right up and all systems are operating as intended.

Now the next step is proving it at the referee.

Hydraulic swaps did not become popular by accident.

As Honda performance evolved, so did the transmissions, clutch systems, and aftermarket support surrounding them.

What started as simple cable transmission swaps eventually turned into hydro conversions, OEM L*D transmissions, straight cut gears, hydraulic release bearings, and eventually H, F, and K series platforms.

This was not hype.
It was evolution through real world racing, broken parts, and years of enthusiasts pushing these chassis further than Honda ever intended.

Back in the early Honda swap days, most EF Civics, CRXs, and DA Integras still used cable transmissions. But as enthusiasts started chasing hydraulic B series transmissions for better availability, OEM L*D options, and stronger aftermarket support, the cable systems started becoming the limitation.

That is where slave adapters and cable to hydro conversions came from.

This video is showing part of that evolution in real time. A hydraulic clutch system actuating a cable style transmission through a slave adapter setup developed from actual necessity.

Real world racing, street driving, broken parts, and years of refinement.

The goal was always keeping these older chassis moving forward.

Thank you for the share!! The factory transmission mount bracket on a FWD manual 88-91 Civic/Crx D series breaks often and are getting equally difficult to find used. We built a replacement while adding in extra strengthen in the place they fail on the steel counter part.

Every EF and DA K swap eventually runs into the same problem.

The battery has to move.

That’s originally why we developed this setup, but the FT230 battery box is not limited to EF and DA chassis. If you’re working with a tight engine bay, custom swap, turbo setup, or simply want a more compact and serviceable battery solution, this setup may be exactly what you’re looking for.

Why customers switch to the FT230 setup:

• Keeps the battery closer to the starter and engine
• Shorter battery cable length
• Cleaner and more serviceable cable routing
• Compact footprint for tighter engine bays
• Flip-tab design mounts in contoured areas where flat trays do not work well
• Rivnut mounting keeps installation clean without excessive fabrication
• FT230 battery provides 230 cold cranking amps in a compact platform
• Better bang for the buck compared to many Odyssey-style alternatives
• Proven on real-world swaps for years
• Works across multiple chassis including EF, DA, EK, DC, CB, Prelude, and more

What started as a real-world packaging solution turned into one of our most versatile setups.

Compact. Clean. Proven.

Memorial Day sale starts now and ends next Monday when Memorial Day ends.

Finally, a true cable to hydraulic conversion for the 84 to 87 Honda Civic and CRX.

Originally developed from real world necessity as these older cable chassis evolved into more serious street and race builds. Better transmission options, better clutch support, and access to modern hydraulic setups without converting the entire chassis.

This system bolts a master cylinder directly to the OEM pedal assembly and eliminates the clutch cable completely while keeping the setup clean and functional.

Developed through years of real street driving, racing, testing, broken parts, and refinement.

Available now for 84 to 87 LHD USDM Civic Hatchback and CRX applications.
