Today is an important day to celebrate freedom! Juneteenth recognizes June 19, 1865, when federal troops took control in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all enslaved people be freed. This event occurred a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States.

Our office is closed today in observance of this federal holiday.
