UNH Franklin Pierce's concentrations help you shape your future practice: Intellectual Property boasts the largest full-time faculty in the field, and our IP library is the largest in the nation; Commerce and Technology includes a razor edge focus on e-Law; Social Justice trains students in the delivery of legal services to all people in an ever-changing society; and our newest concentration, International Criminal Law and Justice, focuses on the emerging field of legal issues that know no borders. Our Daniel Webster Scholar Honors Program is the only practice-based bar exam alternative in the nation. We offer ten different clinics, where, by law, our students can perform nearly all tasks required of a lawyer. Our location in Concord, New Hampshire's capital, and our status as the state's only law school offer numerous pro bono, externship and Federal Work Study experiences, too.

Congratulations to Holly R. Rao, Esq., UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law, '86 JD, who began her one-year term as President-Elect of the Rhode Island Bar Association on July 1, 2026, and will serve through June 30, 2027.

A senior partner at Olenn & Penza, LLP, Rao's practice is primarily in the areas of insurance defense, professional negligence, insurance coverage, and construction litigation. Her professional negligence defense work primarily involves representing attorneys sued in state or federal court for malpractice involving a variety of underlying practice areas.

Rao has served on the Rhode Island Bar Association's House of Delegates since 2016 and on the Executive Committee for the past eight years. She chaired the Association's Annual Meeting Planning Committee in 2018 and has served as Chair of the Insurance Programs Committee since 2015.
