They met in Bremerton, WA on a blind date and married 6 weeks later-80 years ago today. He was a Marine Raider and she worked in the office at a munition factory.

Words don’t do justice in trying to describe the love and legacy of Grandma and Grandpa, but God and family are the first two words I think of. They will be forever treasured in our hearts today by their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and for eternity.

We are on the east side of the lake between Bear Creek Bay and the East Twin Island. Our cabin sleeps 18 in beds (+ two sofa sleepers) and has all the modern conveniences of home, and then some! Ten years ago today. Some days it feels like just yesterday, sometimes, decades. Grandpa, you are forever in our hearts and in our best memories. We will never hear a ring tapping the arm of a chair or see black licorice and not think of you. No one was a better whistler, prankster, or story teller.

The older we get, we become more aware of the great man you were-as if you could top who we already knew you to be. You were all and more that makes up a good man.

We are so proud of you and proud to be yours. Semper Fi to our beloved Marine Raider-we’ll be seeing you when the Lord calls us home ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
