Day 7, off to Budapest but not the way we expected to be traveling. The water 💦levels on the Danube River have gone down even further, so we needed to take a bus 🚍 back to Budapest. AMA Waterways arranged all the logistics, bus to Budapest, hotel in Budapest and $ for dinner. The few images I have of Budapest were from our arrival day.

Day 5 and 6 were spent in Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹. Vienna was all about music,🎼 Mozart and history. Each day we saw something different in the city center. The Vienna Opera House, Mozart’s apartment, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Lipizzaner stallions. To top the day off we took a horse drawn carriage ride around the historic city, felt like royalty being transported around town. Tomorrow we are off to Budapest.

Day 4 on our Danube River Cruise has us cruising into Linz, Austria. 🇦🇹 We decided to take the full day tour into Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic. 🇨🇿 It was only a 1 hour bus ride. Cesky Kromlov is home to the second largest Bohemia castle. 🏰 It was fascinating to hear about life during the Communist era. Tomorrow we are in Vienna for two nights.

Day 3 of our Danube River cruise was spent traveling through the Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I have to say the scenery was beautiful, castles and small villages all along the river.
We docked in Melk, Austria 🇦🇹 for a tour of the Benedictine Abbey followed by a private concert at a local church.⛪️.

After a relaxing morning of sailing we arrived at Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia 🇸🇰. Today’s tour was a walking tour of old town that included a few concerts along the way. Included is an image of our twin balconies, perfect for relaxing after a day of touring.

Today, we boarded the AMAReina, our home for the next 7 nights. In travel you sometimes need to go with the flow. Today was one of those days. The river levels on the Danube River were too low for us to depart from Budapest. AMAWaterways pivoted quickly and we took a bus to Komarom, Slovakia to board the ship.
Our beautifully appointed cabin has both a French balcony and a balcony with two chairs(images to come later).

Day 1 of a new adventure. Arrived in Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺 for the start of a 7 day cruise along the Danube River with AMA Waterways. Came in one day early so we knew we would make the cruise.
Looking forward to stops in;
Bratislava, Slovakia.
Melk, Austria.
Linz, Austria.
Vienna, Austria.
Travel along with us as we experience river cruising for the first time.

Last stop Loreto, and what a beautiful city. It’s one of the oldest cities in Mexico 🇲🇽. Here we decided to take a walking tour through town. Might have to plan another visit to this charming town.😎

Today’s port of call was La Paz and we opted for more of an adventurous shore excursion. A 90 minute hike on the trails of Balandra Bay. 🥾🥾. At times I felt part goat 🐐. The view at the top was spectacular. Following the hike we relaxed at Tecolate Beach for a swim 🏊‍♂️ and a cool 🍺.

Today’s port of call was Cabo San Lucas, since I’ve been many times we opted for a shore excursion outside of Cabo San Lucas. 🇲🇽
We visited Todas Santos, an hour north outside of Cabo San Lucas.
Todas Santos is a small village, a haven for artists 👨‍🎨 and surfers 🏄‍♂️. Lunch was at the famous Hotel California. Legend has it that this hotel inspired the Eagles to write their iconic song.
After a refreshing margarita🍸, it’s time for dinner.
