The wait is finally over! The Russian River opens tonight at midnight, and anglers from all over Alaska will be hitting the water in hopes of connecting with the first wave of sockeye salmon.
As the season gets underway, I’ll be keeping a close eye on the run and sharing updates on fish counts, fishing conditions, and what’s happening on the river. Whether you’re planning to fish opening night or make the trip later this season, stay tuned for regular reports.

We had an absolute blast on a King/Sockeye combo trip yesterday! The sockeye are showing up steadily, and our group managed 3 limits of reds on a full-day trip. While the kings didn’t cooperate this time, the action kept us busy and the hunt for that big Chinook is only getting better as the season progresses.
