Check out Cecil mountain! Towering over Cooper Landing at 4,405 feet above sea level Cecil gives us an spectacular view from the river most days!

Cecil mountain was named after photographer/ film maker Cecil E. Rhode in 1981. Cecil lived in Cooper landing for 42 years, and is known for bringing an impressively wide exposure to the public about the landscape and wildlife in Alaska. Cecil is best known for his contributions to both National Geographic and Disney. Cecil passed in 1979, launching the town into a mission to change the mountains former name- Cooper Mountain to Cecil Rhode mountain.
