Bluegrass music is one of our favorite genres and we’re lucky to have a bluegrass musician for a son who’s in some great bands. So check out the fabulous Chicken Wire Empire (and Starr Moss on guitar and vocals) in Marquette on October 6 @ Ore Dock Brewing Co.

With 88 one-of-a-kind, hand-made lamps and illuminated sculptures, some of our guests ask - can I make one of these lamps? Yes! We offer lamp kits at a nominal cost, which helps fund our non-profits. Recently two sisters each made lamps that honored their special sibling bond and that will provided a luminous, warm memory of their stay at Anam Cara.

Anam Cara means Soul Friend in Celtic. It reflects our long kinship with our 10+ acres of land on idyllic Lake Medora in the wild and rugged Keweenaw. We only began building a cabin after several years of gradually getting to know the land. Our intention was to create a sustainable, comfortable, beautiful cabin that harmonized with the land.

We love that our guests have written reviews like “It’s as if the house and the natural world around it are having an ongoing conversation.” ✨Magic and enchantment are two frequent word our guests use.
