We’ve been quieter than usual on restoration updates lately, and we wanted to share why...

During Mandalay’s most recent inspection with our flag carrier, it became clear that decades of patchwork repairs had left much of the original steel beneath severely deteriorated. What began as a major restoration evolved into something deeper: going all the way back to the original ribs, reinforcing weakened sections, and installing entirely new primary steel where it was needed.

This wasn’t something anyone anticipated, and it has added both time and cost to the project. But we made a decision early on that we would not repeat the rushed, temporary fixes that brought Mandalay to this point in the first place. Every choice we’re making now is rooted in longevity, safety, and honoring the integrity of this ship for decades to come.

In the meantime, we’ve been exploring additional vessel opportunities that could get this community sailing sooner without requiring the same level of restoration, continuing the process of raising capital, and building the behind-the-scenes foundation needed to launch The Windjammer Way properly and sustainably.

We know the wait has been longer than expected, and we’re deeply grateful for your patience while we do this the right way. Stay tuned. ⚓
