Much needed Grid day today, the crews worked hard and got both boats washed scraped painted and new zincs all in one tide. Didn’t get to do two coats of bottom paint like I was hoping, not enough black paint in town for it.

We finally found some bigger fish around the corner from gravina on the redhead side of knowles bay. Active spawn from here around the corner to the salmon stream at hells hole. Lots of predator activity throughout. These fish are averaging 120 gram and are spawn outs or in the process of spawning. Around the corner we were finding a lot more 3-4 year olds averaging in the high 90s for weight. We should be able to finish our last 50 tags tonight and tomorrow morning and will be done with our herring work this spring. PWS herring tagging survey today. We are working on a nice big 300 ton school, quite a few nice schools in the area and a bunch of smaller ones that are holding tight to the bottom in 20-25 fathoms, we have observed 3-4 humpbacks working the area and there is a fair amount of sea lion activity aswell. Yesterday the local pod of orcas stopped by for a visit.
