The AKA Convention wasn't just about kite building, for most of the attendees it was actually about workshops and flying kites. We loved this Peanuts setup on Saturday afternoon!

The Peanuts setup was put up by Dale Bowden and his family. There were 3 generations of kite flyers in their group!! Rumor has it that there's a future AKA president who needs to make it to 18 before we can vote for him!

Fun fact - Splitting the bridle on a lifter is a great way to add stability to the kite while also allowing for more line laundry!

Check out this gorgeous Astralglide that David Anderson made for the kite builders challenge for convention last week! David built on Ron Gibians well loved platform with red, blue, and dyed fabric. Cassie provided the yellow and orange dyed fabric, and David's dad Steve provided the shades of pink.

If you think it was stunning in the air, you would have loved it more in person.

Congrats David, on building a truly stunning kite! We look forward to see what you make next.

We want to congratulate everyone who was at the AKA Convention this past week and competed. Cassie is bringing 3 awards home from the kite building competition, which is an amazing honor. There were 58 kites entered this year and the caliber of kites was truly stunning. To bring these awards home to the shop feels like a dream.

Next year, convention will be in Reno! Be sure to follow the AKA for more info, plus tons of great kite content!

Happy Wednesday, friends! We'll be open Thurs, Fri and Sat this week. In the meantime, here's a video of Cassie's Della Porta train from yesterday's kite building competition. They were part of the sky display portion of the competition. Congrats to all of the competitors for having truly stunning kites out yesterday. The judges are gonna have a really hard time!

Cassie and Dave are at the American Kitefliers Association convention in Muncie IN this week. If you're in town, look for these windows on Walnut Street! That's them!

This summer, the Carova Beach Volunteer Fire & Rescue asked for some help with a fundraiser, and we donated a kite and a few other items to make up a gift basket for their raffle. Well, it turns out that their event was a tremendous success and they were able to purchase the tanker truck that they need up there!

Why are we telling you about this?

Well, it's because of YOU that we are able to support community events like this. If you didn't support our business, then it would be a lot harder to support our community.

So, thank you friends. This thank you note shown is as much for you as it is for us.

Hey friends - just a heads up that Thurs (10/8) we'll have odd hours at the shop. Cassie is getting new tires on her car and we're working around their hours instead of our hours.

If you need her to deliver anything to you at AKA Convention next week, please let us know today!

It's the first Monday in October and it's time to update the shop hours.

This month, our hours get a bit weird. We've got a lot of kite travel going on, and with a limited number of people in town the shop hours will also be limited. This also means that we may have delays shipping orders, so we appreciate your patience!

That said, if you're going to be in Muncie for the American Kitefliers Association Convention next week and want us to deliver anything from the shop, please let us know by Wednesday!
