Happy Saturday, friends!

The Shooks are at the 45th annual Artevento International Kite Festival in Cervia Italy this week, and we thought we'd share a few of our favorite photos from today. The first is featuring Cath flying one of Hunter Browns beautiful kites, delivered just in time to bring to Italy! The second is a beauty by Jose Sainz that truly pops against a beautiful, lightly cloudy blue sky!

Just a heads up that next week, we'll be closed on Tuesday and Saturday so that Trisha and Allie can catch up on life after covering the shop on one of the busiest post-easter weeks that we've seen for a while. A huge thanks to both ladies for stepping up and giving us a chance to go to our favorite festival in the world!

The following week, the Shooks will be back and in the shop starting on Tuesday afternoon, resuming the "normal" spring schedule of Tues-Sat from 11-4.

So many customers asked for Micro Puzzles last year that we decided to go ahead and make custom ones! The puzzles measure 4x6" finished, and are 150 pieces.

The horse puzzles are available at the shop, and also at the Wild Horse Fund shop in the village. The FSK graphic is just available at our shop.

We'll get these online eventually, but right now you need to come into the shop to pick them up! Friends who are going to The 45th Annual Artevento event in Cervia, we'll have a couple of the FSK graphic with us for sale, just in case you want one. We're only bringing a couple, so catch up with Cassie if you want one!

Here's another picture from fly time yesterday! Karen and John Mault came up to visit us from Morehead City, and they spent the afternoon flying with Cath and Eliot. Karen and John put up their new 4m Fireworks Delta by HQ Kites & Designs USA, and Cath and Eliot put a field of poppies into the sky!

We're gonna get the 4m Delta onto the website in the next few days, so you can get yours ordered. It's GORGEOUS in the sky!!

Happy Thursday, friends!

In less than 2 weeks, the Shooks will board a flight to head over to Artevento in Cervia, Italy! The theme this year is poppies, so Cath and Eliot have been working hard at creating some kites with poppies on them just for the event! Here is a sneak peek at a couple Hata's that they're test flying at the beach by our house today while Cassie is at the shop. We can confirm, they fly like a dream!

If you're coming to town while we're gone, don't panic! Our amazing helpers, Trisha and Allie will cover the shop most of the days that we're gone. There will be 1 or 2 days that we're closed so that they can do their lives, but it'll be the exception rather than the rule.

Remember a few years ago when we raffled off CR Mesh Quad #400 and donated the proceeds to help our local school expand? Well, we want to be the first to congratulate Water's Edge Village School for successfully raising over 2.4 million dollars to build the new school building! It's currently under construction, and we got an email today that they have raised enough funds so that they will move into the new school in the fall with NO mortgage to pay!

It's National Kite Month, and Steve Ferrel is promoting it in the Kitebuilders group on Facebook. This week, he asked about cellular kites that we've made, and it reminded us of one of Cassie's first successful builds a few years ago. Here she is with Dick Toonen and her drumbox, completed at the kitebuilding portion of the LBI Kite Festival in 2022.

You *know* it's a good day when we're working on the sport kite display and Eliot starts to cackle. I (Cassie) looked over from making signs to find out and he manages to get out "these kites are HUGE!" as he continues to laugh at the current challenge of "but how do we hang them both up?"

Obviously he was successful (is he ever not??), and we're getting quads placed right now.

Frank has an impressive 8.5' wingspan, and the Diva comes in at a whopping 9.6' wingspan. Both kites fly like a dream, and love throwing axels! The Diva has a spine to width ratio that gives monster pull, while Frank has a tweaked profile that makes it pull less than you'd expect from that wingspan. We've got both available to ship on our website in the sport kite section!

Happy Friday, friends! How has it already been a week since the Fun Fly started?! Here's a pic from across the street at the Whalehead Club on Saturday afternoon. We had big west winds for most of the weekend, which had us there for 3 out of 4 days! Lisa, Ronan, Cameron, Jim, Jenn & Marc are flying here, making us all look good!!

Just a heads up that we needed to run a big update on the website this morning, so most of the previously loved kites show as unavailable right now. We're working on getting those numbers fixed asap! We'll have those fixed today or tomorrow, so don't panic if you've been watching a kite!

We'll share more photos over time, but here's the last kite in the air from the 2025 Fun Fly Weekend! Nancy Krablin was flying her Elphikite right before the sky got ominous and grey. We'd like to thank mother nature for giving us a perfect weekend with pleasant temperatures and wind that assuredly kept kites in the air!
