Update: The Hatas have all been claimed! Congrats to everyone who claimed one. To anyone sad that they missed out, have no fear! Eliot and Cassie are already plotting for more of them to get made!

At 2pm eastern TODAY (8/29/25), these beauties will go live on the website! We've listened to your feedback and have decided to leave line in the bag. We've set the new price at $84.99, just $10 more than they were previously.

At 2pm, we'll make the listing available. We'll also post a link direct to the listing in the comments of THIS post!

Here's another peek at the Hatas that we're releasing tomorrow at 2pm eastern! Cassie made the tie dye fabric and Eliot made the kites. You can wait for the announcement, or just stalk the website. We'll make the listing live right at 2pm.

Now, time for a question. The price of Hatas needs to increase. Its been coming for a while (let's be real, we pay Cath almost nothing for her labor and that's not fair to her), and the hand dyed fabric on this series pushed it over the edge. So, would you like line included still? If we remove it from the package, the price increase will be a little lower.

Please answer by noon on Friday (8/29/25, eastern time) so that we can adjust the price if needed.

Yes indicates that you want line. No indicates that you'd rather not have line and save $5ish. The Hatas have included roughly 150' of 50 # line since they were first released.

One more post today, so y'all can make a reminder on your phones! Eliot got the tie dye Hatas finished this week, after he paused to make some CR Mesh Quads. We promised to give y'all a heads up when they'll be available, so here it is!

THIS Friday (8/29/25) at 2pm eastern, the kites will go live on our website. That's 11am pacific, 12pm mountain, 1pm central.

We'll make an event on our page to help y'all remember, and we're also gonna send an email out to the email list.

We'll put a link to clothing on our website in the comments!

A huge thanks to Jesse Kapsten for making this idea a reality, with roughly 800 messages from us saying "I don't know what it is, but something doesn't look right, can you try this other thing instead?" (Okok, it wasn't 800. But it was at least a dozen!)

Have you been waiting in anticipation of the new shirts? Well, the wait is almost over!

We just got them into the shop and need to get them into the system, photographed, and onto the website. Give us a day or so and you'll be able to place your orders! Here's a peek at the front of the performance tees we ordered! You'll have to wait to see the back graphic!

Hey friends! We're open today since there's no water on the roads! Eliot is cutting fuzzy tails, Cassie is playing with tie dye ripstop, and overall, it's not a bad day in Corolla. It's definitely windy with some misty rain, but nothing like it looked like it could have been.

That said, we sincerely hope that our friends up on the 4x4 and down on Hatteras Island are doing OK and can travel out of your houses soon!

Hey friends! We've had a lot of folks reach out, concerned that we need to evacuate.

Here's the good news, for *us* the answer is no. But, y'all might be seeing that they've issued an evacuation for the 4x4 just north of the shop. Please know that we are safe here on the pavement! The storm surge is going to tear up the beaches, which will make the 4x4 impassable for a few days. If people can't get off the beach, then that also means that emergency vehicles can't get to them, which is the reason why they're evacuating. But, the hurricane isn't expected to make landfall, so we'll see conditions that match Nor'easters that we see a few times a year.

We're watching the reports here on the pavement. We're currently planning on opening tomorrow, but if the storm surge is flooding parts of the road between the house and the shop, then we will (of course) consider closing. We expect that by Friday, everything will be basically back to normal.

If you're in town, now is a great time to get out of the ocean and make sure you've got some water and food on hand, just in case you're housebound tomorrow. We're here in the shop till 7, so come by and grab a game and puzzle for tomorrow too!

If you've placed a web order, we can expect those to ship out on Friday.

A few months ago, we were approached by an organization that wanted to do a kite building activity supporting people affected by Cancer. We were delighted to have the opportunity to help them get kites from Great Winds and art supplies to decorate them.

A huge thanks to Cheryl and Crystal for spearheading this project! We wish we could have been there with you. It looks like it was a wonderful day.

Also, a heads up. It looks like Hurricane Erin won't be making landfall but will be affecting the Outer Banks this week. We're currently watching the weather forecast, and may be closed on Thursday due to anticipated ocean overwash onto the roads. We've seen that the drive from the shop back to our house can be precarious in storms like this, and driving through ocean water is less than ideal for our cars. We'll keep y'all updated!

We're getting to the end of the season, and sometimes amusing things happen as we're moving things around to keep the shop looking clean and organized.

Dave's visiting for a few days and last night, he decided that the dinosaurs needed to show the horses how to win a wrestling match. WWE style. Ironically, the foal won its battle. He was surprisingly strong for such a cute little guy! And the poor bunny... she didn't win. Lucky for her, she made a break from the madness first thing this morning, when a small child saved her from the stegosaurus that had been munching on her ear.

Anyways.

Come see us at the shop. We're here til 8 today. Next week, we'll start our transition towards the fall and will start closing at 7pm m-f.
