Pet Peeve: Canceling something that you pay automatically monthly. Today, I canceled my Constant Contact account after 12 years. After finally getting someone live (as you have to talk to someone live so they try to keep you as an account), it took 15 minutes on hold. The rep came on and asked why I was leaving. "Cost and I changed platforms (SubStack)". CC goes up again with my next billing to $165 a month. She said.. "Oh ok.. well, I can offer you a year now for 40% off". Nope, please cancel. Well, is there any way we can keep your business? Nope. you should have offered the price reduction before I left instead of a price hike.
So, sign up for my SubStack, and we will spend $$ on contests and giveaways instead of paying Constant Contact!

I was fortunate to interview Wally for my Made in California Vol 2 book. He was bitter about what happened with his recipe after selling the company he had started on Sunset Blvd in a former House of Pies Building. Yes, his cookies today taste nothing like the buttery morsels of yesteryear. Instead of the little bags of sawdust drops. Wally highlighted children's literacy programs and reading in the schools. Wally often tried to open another baking business, but he would get sued for using the name that he sold off. His bright smile and love of reading and baking.. He will be missed.

The creator of the grocery store snack aisle staple died at 88. His family said in a statement that he had dementia.
