🍂 Thanksgiving: Two Countries, Two Dates, One Spirit of Gratitude! 🍁
Did you know Thanksgiving isn't just an American thing? Our neighbors in Canada celebrate too—but on a whole different day! 🦃🇨🇦🇺🇸
✨ In Canada, Thanksgiving falls on the second Monday of October—a cozy autumn weekend to feast and reflect on the harvest. 🍁🥧 It’s earlier because their harvest season ends sooner up north!
✨ In the USA, we wait until the fourth Thursday of November, a tradition tied to Plymouth Rock and turkey dinners the size of Texas. 🦃🍂 It’s the kickoff to the holiday season and Black Friday madness. 🛍️💃
No matter where—or when—you celebrate, Thanksgiving is about coming together, sharing good food, and expressing gratitude for the blessings in our lives. 🌟💖

HURRICANE MILTON: UPDATE YOUR PHONES FRIENDS! I hope everybody is well, particularly Florida residents. We're getting ready for Hurricane Milton. So I came across this article, when cell phone service is down, you can send iPhone text via satellite. And so basically what you need to do is connect to the iOS 18, do the update while you have power. And then once you've got the iOS 18, if you have an iPhone that is 14, 15, 15 or 16, then you can essentially use, their satellites to send text messages. Don't expect to send photos and videos, but you can, send text messages to loved ones, family, friends, which I found very helpful, in Asheville, North Carolina. I think we're going to see the same disruption, so, hopefully you get your, phones, iPhones, updated. I don't think this works on analog devices, or Android, devices, I should say. Although Google Pixel may have introduced some satellite, service, but, just unfamiliar. Hopefully, you get this, video, and you can, up, update your, your phones. Again, assuming it's a 14, 15, or 16, you can use, the satellites when you have no power, and you have no cell phone service. I hope that helps. Good luck, everyone.

What’s happening with interest rates? The Federal Reserve (often called the Fed) recently started cutting interest rates for the first time in four years. This means it’s going to be cheaper for people to borrow money for things like car loans or home mortgages. You might hear experts talking about the "yield curve" in the bond market — this is just a fancy way of showing how interest rates (or yields) differ between short-term and long-term bonds. Normally, long-term bonds have higher interest rates than short-term ones, but right now, things are out of balance. The Fed is trying to fix that.
Why does the Fed cut rates? The Fed controls a key interest rate called the "fed funds rate," which affects other interest rates. This week, the Fed lowered this rate by 0.5%, aiming to make borrowing cheaper and help the economy. When they do this, it can also affect short-term Treasury bond rates, which usually start dropping too. What’s the "yield curve" and why does it matter?
Think of the yield curve as a graph that shows how much interest different bonds are paying. Normally, the curve slopes upward, meaning long-term bonds (like 10 years) offer higher interest rates than short-term ones (like 6 months). But right now, the curve is upside down, or "inverted." This means short-term bonds are paying more interest than long-term bonds. An inverted yield curve is often a warning that a recession could be coming. What does this mean for banks?
Banks make money by borrowing at lower interest rates (usually from people’s savings accounts) and lending at higher rates (like for mortgages). When short-term rates are higher than long-term ones, it messes with this system. If banks have to pay depositors 4.5% interest but can only charge borrowers 4%, they’ll lose money. So, they might raise mortgage rates to cover their costs, making it more expensive for people to get loans.Why should you care about the yield curve?
In short, by fixing the yield curve and bringing interest rates back to normal, the Fed hopes to make borrowing more affordable and boost economic confidence — something that helps both Main Street and Wall Street folks. Stay tuned!

Market expectations are equally split on whether the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates by 25 or 50 basis points at their upcoming meeting next week. The current fed funds rate is between 5.25% and 5.5%. While data dependence is key for this market, the market would likely appreciate indications that the Fed is also considering forecasts more closely, especially as inflation trends downward and policy changes take time to impact the economy. Just as important are the homebuilder stocks like Toll Brothers, Lennar and D.R. Horton. In fact, Doug Yearley, CEO of homebuilder Toll Brothers was quoted: “If we have three [Fed] cuts in the fall ... we should have a 30-year fixed, no-point mortgage in the 5s, and look out. … The market should take off.” Stay tuned investors!

On this day, 23 years ago, the world changed forever. We witnessed unimaginable tragedy and loss, and we also saw incredible courage and resilience. September 11, 2001, wasn't just an attack on the United States—it was an attack on peace, freedom, and humanity.
In the aftermath, the world united to fight against terrorism. Governments, organizations, and individuals came together to enhance global safety, tighten security, and prioritize the protection of innocent lives. The lessons learned from that day shaped the future of global security, making the fight against terrorism an international priority.
But beyond the policies and strategies, 9/11 reminded us all of the fragility of life and the strength of the human spirit. We remember the heroes who risked everything to save others. We honor the victims who will never be forgotten. And we continue to strive for a world where peace prevails over violence.
Today, as we reflect on this day of sorrow, let's also renew our commitment to making our world safer, kinder, and more united.
