ACTIVITIES: Back to the Nineties Retro Arcade in downtown Corvallis: I have been wanting to try this place for a long time but we finally made it happen this summer and with the rain coming, I wanted to give you all another option!

Retro Arcade is open:
Tuesday-Friday 3pm-9pm
Saturday/Sunday 12noon-9pm

It’s $15 per person all day so you can come and go all day if you’d like. There are no coins or cards to play - one flat fee to play as much or as little as you want.

We went for a bit then took a break for lunch then went back for more to get our money’s worth. They have a whole room of pinball machines, an area to play Sega/Nintendo/Super Nintendo and of course, 90’s arcade games.

They have a variety of snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) for purchase too.

We saw multiple parents working while their kids played so if you don’t plan on playing, you don’t have to pay.

If you want a date night, they have an “After Dark” night for 21+ every Friday 8pm-midnight $10/person starting next week.

Pros:
- Lots of fun games to play
- Fun to introduce some old games to my kids
- Great rainy day activity
- Right downtown so lots of food options if you need a break

Cons:
- It can add up for a family but if you can extend the time, it’s worth it

Bathrooms:
- nice clean bathroom on site - I even took a picture of it because it’s so cool

Parking:
- Street parking: metered right in front but if you park around the corner on 4th, you have 3 hrs free

PARK: Paul J Cochran Veterans Memorial Park: I have been wanting to stop at this park for so long, but I think my kids are “over” me making them stop at a new park 😂 but thankfully we found ourselves in the neighborhood and they were fighting 😩 so I made them get out and play! And so glad we did!

What a beautiful story of how it came to be! A mother lost her son in the Vietnam War so when she passed, donated her land to the city of Philomath to build a park in his honor. Such a cute beautiful park that has so much meaning.

Pros:
- Super clean
- What a beautiful story of how it came to be
- Perfect for a picnic or a quick stop
- The whole playground has AstroTurf so nice soft surfaces for your little ones

Cons:
- No shade so hit it early in the morning or on a cool day

Bathrooms:
- None 😢 but lots of businesses super close by

Parking:
- Lots of street parking around the sides of the park

U-PICK: Kiger Island Blues (2026): My other daughter was in “mom camp” this past week so I made her go blueberry picking with me this time! We plowed through the other ones so needed some more for my freezer so we hit up another favorite Kiger Island Blues!

$2.25/lb for U-pick. They provide buckets but bring something to carry them home in. Parking is right alongside the bushes so you fill your buckets fast then you are back on the road.

You can pay by cash, check or Venmo which is super helpful!

Porta-potty right there in the parking lot which is nice for everyone!

Stay tuned because when they get to the end of the season, they lower the price to $1/lb so we stock up!

U-PICK:
Radke’s Blueberries (2026): This continues to be one of our family favorites! The amount of berries, how delicious they are and the sandbox pulls us back every year.

They provide the buckets but bring something to transport them home. $2.50/lb for u-pick and $3.50/lb for picked.

They assign you rows depending on what kind of berry you want so you don’t feel like you are vying for berries or running into others. We picked 8 pounds of Legacy in less than 30 minutes. Even my daughter, who usually has an empty bucket because she eats what she picks, picked 3lbs because the berries were plentiful!

Don’t forget to ask them where the pink lemonade blueberries are! They are soooo good!

HIKE: Inter-tie Trail to WoodPecker Trail at William Finley National Wildlife Refuge.
We took on this hike for Father's Day as my husband has always wanted to do the Inter-tie Trail as you cross over it as you drive into the park.
The Inter-tie portion is only 0.5mi and the Woodpecker Loop trail is 1.1 miles - both are easy and fairly flat with a couple incline/decline that my kids had no problem complaining about 🤣 Both these trails are open year round and fun for kids

Pros:
- There are information kiosks along with interpretive signs that are fun for learning - short and sweet so you can keep the kids engaged
- The trail is fairly flat throughout
- The Inter-tie trail is mostly shaded so was perfect for a warm day whereas the Woodpecker Trail has a variety of habitats so it is partially shaded but areas that are wide open so pack accordingly
- Soooo many wildflowers and fun trees to climb
- The views are spectacular and the bird-watching is amazing

Cons:
- Unfortunately one of the kiosks' door was broken so when my daughter reached for the information sheet, she was stung so be aware of your surroundings

Bathrooms:
- There is a porta-potty located at the trailhead of Woodpecker Loop.

Parking:
- You can either park at the Woodpecker Loop Trailhead if you just want to do the mile trail

Or you can park at the Inter-tie (and Mill Hill) Trailhead which is along the main road

Wahoo!!!

Myth or Fact: "The Riverfront Park Fountain isn't treated water, they just pump it straight out of the river."

BIG MYTH!

FACT: The water in the Riverfront is chlorinated and filtered water that is maintained by Aquatics and Parks Staff multiple times a day so the water stays safe and clean for your enjoyment!

Hands up if you're excited for fountain season!!🙋‍♀️

The Riverfront fountain will turn on tomorrow and run 10am-7pm all summer until September 8th.

We'll see you on the Riverfront!
