On July 9, 1863, John Hunt Morganā€™s Confederate raiders advanced toward Corydon after crossing the Ohio River into Indiana. Waiting for them along a wooded ridge south of town were roughly 400 Indiana militia and citizen volunteers.

Outnumbered by a force of more than 2,000 cavalrymen, the local defenders initially delayed Morganā€™s advance before eventually being flanked and forced to retreat. Morganā€™s forces continued through Corydon and across Southern Indiana as part of what became known as Morganā€™s Raid.

Today, you can visit the Battle of Corydon Historic Site and stand on the ground where it happened ā€” a piece of Civil War and Indiana history tucked just outside downtown Corydon.

Then head out to Oā€™Bannon Woods State Park for an afternoon surrounded by Southern Indianaā€™s fall scenery.

Thatā€™s right!! Bruce hid TWO sets of tickets to the Autumn Hop & Shop hosted by Main Street Corydon!

Get special discounts at some of your favorite downtown shops and end the night with a Silent Disco in Bicentennial Park! Happening next Saturday, September 26.
