Day 4. Wayne National Forest. Got out and on the trail early today as it got up to about 93 in the afternoon. Best to ride in the morning before the heat hits. Found another Eastern Box Turtle on the trail today. Also came across an interesting contraption for a tree stand, appears to be an old steel folding chair chained to the tree, was only about 8 feet off the ground, no ladder so maybe it’s a self climber 🤷🏻‍♂️ Duke decided it was hot so he took a break in a mud puddle to cool off. The girls are enjoying a lazy afternoon with plenty of grass to munch on.

Day 3. Moving day today. Still in Wayne National Forest just farther south. Camping at Paddle Creek Horse Campground. Weather is wicked hot but no rain in the forecast for the next week or more!! Went for a short ride this afternoon saw lots of Coral mushrooms and some Chanterelles. Didn’t pick any though. Got back from our ride and fought with wet firewood for three hours to cook two burgers, they tasted great though. Watching the fire and lightning bugs, doesn’t get any better

Day 2 at Wayne National Forest. Did a 6 or 7 mile loop today, finally no rain but pretty hot. Found an old cemetery at the top of the hill,soldiers from as far back as the Revolutionary War are buried there. Also found a turtle, some mushrooms and a Beech tree with a troll in it. Lol.

On our next adventure. Stopped by Kinderhook Trailhead in Wayne National Forest. Near Newport Ohio just off the Ohio River. Going to stay a day or two here then continue towards Tennessee.

Finally made it to North Carolina. Spent the day adventuring in the Pisgah National Forest with the Grandboys. Looking Glass Waterfalls and the Cradle of Forestry, a Moon tree that was grown from a seed that orbited the moon. And our neighbor at the campground Lazarus the Longhorn steer.

Darn horses are always trying to kill themselves. She’s all sewn up and on the mend, thanks to Potter County Vet Clinic.

Rode to Box Canyon in Hocking Hills today. Nice ride, quite a few trees down in that area so we had to find ways around. Wildflowers are in bloom here. Found an antler shed too.

Another day at Hocking Hills. It finally stopped raining so we were able to get out for a nice ride. Rode our Buckskins to Buckskin Canyon and also to Badger Cave, no badgers today. Found a dead fish at one of the small creek crossings, not sure how it got there as it’s not a big enough stream to have fish in it. Was a good day riding.

Hocking Hills, been rainy the last 2 days and looks like more on its way. Got out yesterday for a hike to the Rock House cave. Took the horses for a short ride today while it wasn’t raining. Moving tomorrow but not to where we had planned, they got 3 to 5 inches of rain in the last 2 days so the area we were going to is closed due to flooding.
