“There's a good chance that's a salmon shark.”

For the first 15 minutes, this fish never shook its head once. It just ripped out 100 to 150 feet of line at a time without any kind of headshake or struggle, which lead to the captain mistaking it for a shark. The Dirks group who is familiar with catching big kings, was pleasantly surprised to hook this 36.2 pound king while picking up the daily cohos.

Most of us spend our lives chasing the highlight reel.

Chasing the trophy fish, the limits, the promotion, the viral video, the next milestone on the calendar. We stay so locked into chasing the next big thing that we forget to ask ourselves when we last actually slowed down.

When was the last time you picked up the phone just to check in on your grandma? Sat down for an unhurried cup of coffee with your parents? Looked your kids in the eye, asked how they’re doing, and really listened?

When was the last time you just enjoyed being completely present with the people who love you?

The world convinces us to chase the spectacle. Truth is, life was never about the big things. It’s always been about the quiet, ordinary moments that end up feeling like magic.

Every guide will tell you: limits of fish are great, but the guests who genuinely love just being here are the ones you remember.

Tyler and his uncle made their first run up to Southeast Alaska this past June, trading crazy busy schedules back home for a few days on the outside coast. Truth is, the weather didn't play nice, and by our standards, the bite was average at best.

Didn’t matter for a second.

They took in every ounce of what this place has to offer, watching whales, spotting eagles, catching kings, and backing the boat tight into jagged sea caves like this just to take it all in. When you get good people on the deck who genuinely know how to unplug and appreciate the ride, it makes every mile on the water worth it.

Just another heavy deck with Catch-A-King. When you drop into deep water out here, you better be ready for what’s on the other end of the line.

Congratulations to the Robinson group and Captain Liam on this big one! Weighing in at over 200 pounds made for quite the memory!

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Craig Zlotek from the Adler Group, a professional photographer who spent time with us capturing the wildlife and waters of Southeast Alaska.

This particular photo stopped us. An eagle with a cloudy eye, still sharp, still hunting. You have to wonder what that bird has seen over the years, and how many fish he's beaten us to. These moments are part of what makes this place special. We're just lucky to have a front row seat.
