Multiple fatalities being reported in McIntosh County.

A McIntosh county commissioner has told us that the Sapelo Island Ferry dock collapsed at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon after a boat hit the dock.

Several people fell into the water after the dock collapsed.

They believe there are seven causalities following the collapse, however this is not a set number at this time.

This comes as many visited the island for 2024 Cultural Day, a Geechee Gullah celebration.

Update : we've just watched multiple hearses leave the scene. We are now also being told that a boat did not hit the dock, It is believed there were way too many people on the ferry loading dock, and It could not support the weight, however this has not been confirmed yet. An official investigation is being conducted.
