Grouper was the name of the game for day 2️⃣ with Tom’s crew! Had to have a side of hogfish and some grunts to add to the dinner table though.

I’m definitely more excited about being able to run the river again and leave right from my dock. There is just something so magical about riding in and out of the river every single day. Right now I’m seeing the wood storks and spoonbills share the trees together and it is the most beautiful sight! Of course the eagles have showed up and having them end our good days on the water is always amazing!

I’m truly blessed to still be able to enjoy what Old Florida we have left each day ❤️

Dynamite inshore fishing today! It felt like summer all over again but the fish didn’t seem to mind. We threw back three times as many fish than we kept 😎

CaptKeith Boardman does what he does on opening day of snook season….. first cast 38 inch snook! His clients had one request to catch a snook and he delivered quick and fast! Lots of overslot redfish and a few to take home for dinner! The bulls have showed up and unfortunately not all of our snook are dinner sized.

Today was all about the grouper 😳 Seems weird to me to only be posting 10 fish on a table when doing a nearshore trip but I guess that is what the hype is all about for the next 30 days 🤷‍♀️

Not going to lie…. It’s pretty boring fishing except for the 2 minutes of great action and a whole lot less actual catching than I am used to. I was pretty excited to not clean 40 fish after a nearshore trip though 😝

These guys are going home with some awesome grouper dinners and my SORD fillet knife is still sharp 😉

YANKEETOWN…. My favorite place on earth! Where I spent so much of my childhood, where my livelihood is now made and absolutely where I am raising my child!

I always lived 30 minutes away but spent so many days here with my dad, mom and brother while growing up and as an adult. It was my dream to work hard enough to be able to afford a house right on the water where I can watch the sunset every night. That dream finally became my reality and I love every second of it.

Little did I know that it would become way more than I could have ever imagined! I have fisherman from the pier come to my house and pick up fresh fish caught off my boat who didn’t catch anything all day, I am able to help those in our community when storms hit, grass needs mowing and even a new basketball hoop needs purchased for the few kids in the town to enjoy. It is full of the kindest people I’ve ever met along my travels around the world. We all watch out for each other here. Neighbors take my kid to get gas when he runs out on the golf cart, they always ask me how the fishing is and they most definitely always wave when I drive by.

Yankeetown is a special place and this documentary shows just a small piece of how incredible it really is.

So I have been wanting another airboat FOREVER! I patiently waited to find the right one and I finally did! Large enough to utilize it for various things (haven’t quite come up with the best plans yet) but the opportunities are endless with the boat! I am looking forward to creek fishing in the winter time and adding it as an option to my clients. We took Fish out this evening so he could put the first fish aboard and I even let Keith drive us there 😉😎🔥💥

It is pretty awesome to see Yankeetown in its purest form on a super low tide, something I have never been able to do (my boat doesn’t quite get there on super low negative tides. I also wanted something that we could enjoy as a family between football practice and me working during the day. We only had about 45 minutes of fishing before the daylight was gone but we had a blast exploring and catching a few fish along the way!

Stay tuned as we take on this new adventure! We are definitely looking forward to many adventures!

Catching gags half my size…. Don’t worry I know right where he will be sitting as gag grouper season opens in a few days! CaptKeith Boardman took me out and of course put me on my hogfish limit and scouted for the big gags for the upcoming season. This one wasn’t easy to reel in on 15lb braid and 30lb Promar & Ahi USA leader but the Bull Bay Tackle Company and Shimano North America Fishing stradic 5000 with a little bit of patience made good work for it.

I’m here to tell you this is the hardest, fastest 30 second fight of my life! I hooked into even bigger gags that I couldn’t turn which many of you know just isn’t quite in my handbook of reeling in some big fish.

I’m looking forward to the easterly winds, water temps cooling a bit, some bumpy rides and some gags filling the box!

Now when I launch the boat I have to warn my clients that they may get a visitor on the boat. I tell them don’t be alarmed, he is just looking for a something to eat. Today my clients said….. so are we 😂🤷‍♀️😎

One thing is for sure, the wildlife never gets old! The otters, spoonbills, eagles, manatees, dolphins, osprey and even the squawking seagulls.

Life is just so much better out on the water ❤️💙🔥💥

Taking fellow veterans out through Black Dagger MHC Inc. is always a privilege! One goal is always in my mind, they’re here to spend time out on the water away from the everyday stress, to release all their worries and to have the most relaxing, enjoyable day in nature, well… because they absolutely deserve it! Many of them drive 2+ hours just to spend a few hours out on the water.

They know and I know… catching lots of fish is always a bonus! This is 💯percent a not-for-profit that I stand behind. I have been working side by side with them for over 4 years now and the money donated absolutely goes straight to veterans, active duty military and gold star families.

They immediately stepped up and even helped here locally our Vietnam and World War II veterans who lost so much during hurricane Helene. You want to donate a few dollars to a very well respected organization, this is the organization.
