Crystal River (located in Citrus County, Florida) is the Manatee Capital of the World, with over 17% of Florida's total population of Florida manatees spending the winter months in the many springs along our shoreline on the Gulf Coast. We're also the only place in the USA where you can legally swim with manatees. Representing all of Citrus County Florida, we are among Florida's leading eco-touris

m and sport fishing destinations with incredible rivers, crystal-clear springs (including internationally famous Three Sisters Springs), the Gulf of Mexico, the Tsala Apopka chain of lakes, and the Withlacoochee State Trail, Florida's longest paved recreation trail. Our charming small towns -- Crystal River, Floral City, Homosassa, and Inverness -- offer great food and fun in a welcoming atmosphere.

You know, you love it, it's our monthly Homosassa Fishing Report with Capt. William Toney:

"Moving into the warm summer months, look for new opportunities for fish to target. The inshore rocks are good fishing for fast action with mangrove snapper, black sea bass, Spanish mackerel, and grunts. While I'm on the rocks fishing I always have a rod ready for cobia. I find cobia are fish that will show up without warning so being prepared is the best to hook up. I like a live pinfish; they are easy to keep in a live well rigged and ready to cast. Another cool fish that I catch during the summer are permit. They like high profile rocks with sand around them and on calm days it's possible to see them fining on the surface. If I spot them then I will shut off the motor and drift within casting range with a live shrimp on a jig head. I use a vertical up and down retrieve to get the strike. Trout fishing has been good on the bars running through the bays. In front of Ft. Island Beach, just west of Mason Creek and Chassahowitzka Bay are the best areas to fish. I've been using MirrOlure Lil Johns in watermelon red flake soft plastics with a red jighead. Redfishing has been best on the incoming tide on the outside keys with the most mullet. Live pinfish or cut pinfish is the best bait. High incoming tide this weekend will be in the morning."

If you swim it, they will come. ⚾️

Three Sisters Springs in Crystal River, Florida is an escape from the Florida heat in all the best ways.

Its natural spring water makes that turquoise liquid feel constantly like 73°F (23°C).

During the summertime, kayaks and paddleboards are able to go inside the spring and take a dip in truly refreshing water and in the winter, it's a sanctuary for manatees to stay warm while the ambient temperature drops.

While does have a board walk, you can't enter the springs from a boardwalk, only from the mouth of the springs from the outside channel that leads to Kings Bay.

Discover a part of the Nature Coast that brings people from all over the world to visit... a piece of heaven on earth 😍
