You know, you love it, it's our monthly Homosassa Fishing Report with Capt. William Toney:
"Moving into the warm summer months, look for new opportunities for fish to target. The inshore rocks are good fishing for fast action with mangrove snapper, black sea bass, Spanish mackerel, and grunts. While I'm on the rocks fishing I always have a rod ready for cobia. I find cobia are fish that will show up without warning so being prepared is the best to hook up. I like a live pinfish; they are easy to keep in a live well rigged and ready to cast. Another cool fish that I catch during the summer are permit. They like high profile rocks with sand around them and on calm days it's possible to see them fining on the surface. If I spot them then I will shut off the motor and drift within casting range with a live shrimp on a jig head. I use a vertical up and down retrieve to get the strike. Trout fishing has been good on the bars running through the bays. In front of Ft. Island Beach, just west of Mason Creek and Chassahowitzka Bay are the best areas to fish. I've been using MirrOlure Lil Johns in watermelon red flake soft plastics with a red jighead. Redfishing has been best on the incoming tide on the outside keys with the most mullet. Live pinfish or cut pinfish is the best bait. High incoming tide this weekend will be in the morning."
