Today we Explore Cullman and Clarkson Covered Bridge. This historic bridge was originally built in 1904. It has since been rebuilt and restored over the years. This bridge is now closed to traffic and is the center of this park. Clarkson Covered Bridge is now the site for many picnics, weddings, and other events. This weekend we Explore Cullman and the 9th Annual Smith Lake Park Bass Fest. There were 576 anglers on the water competing for first place and the grand prize of $15,000. The 288 teams were hoping to place as the top 40 received payouts including the new wildcard payouts this year. The winners this year were Jarod Henderson and Chase Hood. They won the $15,000 first place prize and $500 bonus check for the biggest fish in the tournament. The Smith Lake Park Bass Fest happens the first Saturday in October. Today we Explore Cullman and the Sportsman Lake Park Fall Yard Sale. This is always a crowd favorite as hundreds of vendors set up throughout the park and attracts thousands of shoppers. Tonight we Explore Cullman and the Busy Bee Cafe. It's been a buzz in Cullman since 1919. The original owners named it after finding a bee hive inside a tree outside the restaurant. The cafe has been at the same location since 1962. The deadly tornados of April 27, 2011 demolished the cafe and building. The building was rebuilt and the cafe opened exactly one year later in 2012.

We Explore Cullman and the downtown area. This is First Community Bank. They have been part of the Cullman Community since 1905. They began as Improved Savings and Loan Association, then later became First Federal Savings and Loan, then First Community Bank. They have been in their current location since 2008. A new favorite to the community are the lights on their rooftop dome. It features 24 led light fixtures. The next time you are in the area at night, take a look up and see the lights. Depending on the night, it could be any color.
